"Jill H. St. Francis, WI 02 9/25/2022 First to Review It started out back in Jan 2022.. He seemed nice and polite but it just went downhill. He started way later than he thought and he showed up very seldomly.. very little got done after the kitchen had barely been gutted at ALL..after first few couple months to start.... After that, he had a family emergency..I was very understanding of that and I waited and waited and waited.. I told him I would understand if he needed to end the contract but he said no, he would finish it.. numerous times.. Everything got delayed for months and he would over and over say he would be there and wouldn't be. Mary Jo( owner) would call him but she would say she couldn't do anything.....nothing really changed.I had to constantly move stuff and back out of the kitchen thinking He would arrive.. almost never did..After I ended the contract, I had other contractors come in and look and they said it looked like an amature home owner did it.. gaps, cheap material , uneven, not 90 degree angels, etc.. and it would cost me more than I paid him ( which was a lot) to re- gut it and re do everything to make nice.. I'm sorry about his family problems. but it was NOT handled professionally- I was not a priority it felt from the beginning and even less and less as time went on as he wasn't getting paid anymore since he was way outside the time line of the contract... Cheap materials, and he admitted even he had to focus on his family (so I was basically just a crap job).. Updated as of 9/26/2022 The original project was to be a total remodel of the one kitchen area( not the bathroom area in the beginning) It was to be cabinet installation, new floors, soffits out, headers, shoeing, framing around windows, etc.. When I saw how crazy the ceiling looked and uneven and not straight etc with gaps , I was very surprised and I thought- why is he just patching everything in a very uneven sloppy way and didn't he just put in a new ceiling?? So I mentioned it..He told me it wouldn't be a big deal..at least what he said, . Mark and I talked about the idea of the bigger kitchen idea to make it bigger way back in the Jan/ Feb- ish time frame but I decided to think about it for a little bit first.... .. he said' Well you can always do that as a later project" I did end up deciding to do it about a month later then since he was already doing the work. If he couldn't do it, he should have just said so.. That being said, I'm sure I'm not the first customer to ask to add things on after the start. Again, the family emergency was very sad and I'm nothing but sympathetic, but it wasn't handled in a professional manner. He should have just been upfront that he couldn't do it instead of dragging me along for months and months and months..very unprofessional and not nice... ... He also left 3 foot wide holes in the kitchen floor that someone could have fallen into the basement, huge not safe messes all the time so I couldn't even get through even though he said it was usable.. He was very nice but almost never showed up from the beginning when he said he would.. not professional.. I always was very supportive of his family issues and again, asked several times if he wanted to end the contract , he said no.. I had other contractors look at the current situation and say that they had never seen anything like it and they would have to totally re gut it to start over and make it correct..... wrong kind of pine for inside, not straight angles, gaps behind boards etc-Again, I'm very sorry for the family issues but it is a job and either he should have ended the contract much earlier or just gotten it done properly and done a proper job!- I always wished him the best.."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Beaver Dam, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
