"From the beginning to the end, Michael's was very helpful and professional. They helped us pick out the carpet in the showroom (which was not the most expensive brand they had). I pulled up my own carpet and discarded it, so they were more than happy to give a discount since they didn't have to do it. They installed the carpet (approximately 25' x 25') in less than three hours. Very courteous and professional. If you go with these guys, you will not be disappointed! <br />"

"David Liberi of Trinity Flooring is the epitome of professionalism. From the first phone call, David made the whole experience "hassle-free." Being new to the area, I needed suggestions and direction for my updating my home. David provided wonderful ideas and knew his products well. Trinity Flooring's pricing was comparable to the competition, The quality and outcome of his work went beyond my expectations. His attitude while working in my home was always enthusiastic. The work was done in a timely manner and David did not disrupt the flow of my day-to-day living. I will definitely use David again and I highly recommend Trinity Flooring."

"Arrived within 10 minutes of promised time and began to work promptly.  Removed old carpet, swept floor, applied leveler, waited for it to dry, applied adhesive, waited for it to set up, applied tile.  Worked straight through.  Tolerant of our nosy cat while working.  The installer, Chip, was amiable and interactive as well as informative.  Finished the job in 6 hours, including a trip to Lowes for more leveler.  I am glad I went to a specialty flooring store rather than a big box retailer with contract installers."

"Excellent customer service in the store with more than enough choices and price ranges. Patient with discussion between 3 women choosing for 2 bathrooms! Received refund for some supplies (glue?) that they did not use in installation. <br /> Give them an overall B due to price add ons and installers .... Primary installer came with a nephew who did one bathroom while he did the other. Nephew was less attentive to detail and not a perfectionist. Both were pleasant and worked hard during time in the house. Would prefer to not have nephew again. (Did not use painted nails in new shoe-round, but took them out and used staple or nail gun. When putting in plate between bathroom floor and room carpet, he pounded with rubber mallet which made the plate dented and 'wavy'. He redid the plate at my request but used the same method with similar results. I gave it up. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Bedford, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
