"Extremely well. He is very professional and put me at ease right away. I had unusable kitchen drawers that had been broken for a long time. He was able to design me replacements that were affordable and fit right in with my existing cabinets. He went the extra mile which I really appreciated. He was extremely patient and delivered and installed the cabinets when he said he would"

"I had previously used this company to refinish a claw foot tub in my third floor bathroom, and while they were there doing that I showed Nelson the second floor bath, told him what I wanted and asked for a quote which he gave me.  The third floor went very well so I hired him to do the second floor. He estimated it would take him a week.  He got a little behind schedule, partly because he was running around with me trying to help me pick out new tile. To his credit he did not leave me hanging while he went and started another job as so many contractors do, but stayed until he was finished even though I know he had to juggle his schedule. The only thing he didn't do was install the new vanity, sink and medicine cabinet.  Not his fault, the place I ordered it from messed up and it wasn't ready when he was there.  He actually came back a few days later to do it, I still didn't have it.  In general the job went well.  The tile work is a little uneven and one of the shelves is a little sloppy, (not very noticeable you have to look closely) so I can't give them an A for quality,  but overall I'm satisfied and I feel I got a lot of value for the price. I'm planning to use them again to do refinishing in the master bathroom"

"Pedro arrived when scheduled. Gave us estimate on glass replacement. He said it would take two weeks for the glass replacements to be made. Two weeks passed and he called to setup an installation appointment. He arrived with a helper. In an hours time he had the glass replaced in the tops of four different window. He is very professional, careful, and neat. The windows he repaired look as good as when they came out of the factory. I would definitely use Pedro again. <br />"

"Top notch company, completely professional and positive experience from beginning to end. After speaking with the estimator, Charlie, on the phone, he came out to our house to provide an accurate estimate, which was what we were charged upon completion (no hidden fees/charges at all). Raphael, the crew leader, and his entire team showed up on time on day 1 of the project, where we had our kitchen cabinets resurfaced/painted (from an old-looking oak color to a modern flat grey) and to paint 5 rooms. The entire job was completed in 2.5 days (we were quoted 3 days, so finished up early!) and we were completely satisfied with the finished product. No mess to cleanup, and all work was meticulously done. Charlie reached out numerous times to check on our level of satisfaction, and I mentioned we saw a crack in one of the ceilings they painted that I missed during the walk through (which tells me it could have happened after they left), and he sent someone out the following day to fix it without hesitation. THAT'S customer service! In terms of pricing, they were a little higher (between 15-20%, so nothing crazy) than other quotes we received, and this is the textbook scenario of "you get what you pay for"... all professional workers/painters, long-standing company with amazing reputation, and they 100% lived up to that reputation. I would highly recommend Spectrum Painting to anyone in the market for a painter or to spruce up a kitchen without completely replacing the cabinets."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Belleville, NJ

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
