"The Groundworks folks (formerly Bay Area Underpinning) applied their foundation-underpinning technology and expertise to extend to bedrock, level, square up the foundation for an extensive house remodel. I was most impressed by the young man onsite supervisor, Josh who answered all my work done, how and why questions. I wish this info was provided up front by the estimator. (My design-build remodel contractor referred this company). "

"We just bought our house a old house but was supposed to have new plumbing including sewer. 2 weeks in all the drains backed up. Called the home warranty first guy snaked it and found roots, apparently the home warranty doesn't cover roots he packed up and left. Searched Angie's List and called three plumbers for a request for quote. Comet Plumbing was the first to reply. Andrew came out the next day.He was able to get the water flowing but the video inspection showed the pipe had some root intrusions and cracks/holes. We would probably be in the same situation in a week or two. Andrew quoted to replace the pipe $5K which was to much since I had just spent every dime to get into the house. I also verified the quote with another plumbing company $7K. Andrew worked with me and we agreed I would do all the digging myself and we settled on $2.5k for him to put the new pipe in and do the permitting. It was about a 45ft run and in a location that didn't allow heavy equipment. I dug up the exsisting pipe myself over a few days, Andrew even stopped by a few time to check on the progress and offer suggestions. While I was doing that he scheduled all the permitting stuff. When the old pipe was dug up Andrew came right out and put the new pipe in. He worked late (there were challenges getting everything to code) so we would have sewer by the end of the day. Inspector came the next day, Andrew met him at the house, got it signed off, I buried the pipe and Andrew even helped where the clean-out was so he could make sure it was set right. Got final inspection the next day. Under the circumstances not too bad, Andrew really went above and beyond to make sure everything worked out."

"Pete sets the standard for contractors.  He came to the house and went over his qualifications and references, explained all of his terms, which were excellent, went over various payment plans, gave me a sheet showing all of his employees along with their photos and years of experience.  One of my favorite things about Pete is that he pays for his employees to take English classes!  It's a win-win situation: They become more skilled and he gets highly qualified employees, and with a boss like that they stay with the company, so many of them have 10  + years of experience with him.  He is respectful of all people, including women.  He let me be the boss completely, which any single women reading this know is RARE!  He was never patronizing and never over familiar, but <br /> professional. respectful and comfortable to work with.  <br />       I appreciated that he warned me ahead that with a house the age of my house (100 years) it was likely that they would find a second roof beneath the top one.  He offered me two options in case they did find a second roof: They could stop work and contact me before approving additional work and costs or we could agree on the price of the additional work ahead of time and they would still call or email me but continue to work.   <br />      The quality of work is guaranteed and of the very best quality and they communicate with you throughout the entire process and stay in touch with you even after the job is finished.  Pete has a Happy Homeowner's Gazette that he sends out each month, but gives you the option of taking yourself off the mailing list if you wish.  I stay on because Pete offers you useful tips on taking care of your home each month.  <br />      The workers completely clean the area surrounding the work site daily, going around with a magnet so that no stray nails etc. are left behind and by the end of the day you cannot see any sign, other than the work on the roof, that the team has even been there.  The neighbors said that the workers were so quiet that they never noticed them.  This is one amazing company and we are fortunate to have Pete Scudder on the Peninsula.  I only wish I had more work for him to do!  He is that good! <br />"

"A great experience through the whole process. Chris Hardy was the first person to come and take a look at our project. He was super informative, took his time, answered any questions I had on the spot, and came up with a thorough "rough draft" plan for our foundation repair/leveling. James Nicolas was next to come up and perform his tasks and was kind, thorough, and made sure everything was correct prior to the engineering portion of the job. Engineering went smoothly and the communication through this process was great. I even resubmitted a couple portions of the drawings for update and Zack Lavely was very helpful to discuss and update the plan. When all was said and ready to rock, Aveena Lewis was helpful in getting me scheduled and confirming that I was set for the job after reading about what I needed to do in order to be prepared. When the crew arrived on Tuesday morning, Gabriel Leyva, Octavio, Antonio, and Antonio (yeah, 2 awesome Antonios!) were all ready to rock. Each of them are kind and super hard workers. Watching them work was like watching a finely tuned machine. Their synergy was awesome. Gabriel was so kind and knowledgeable and even explained a couple things we'd need to tackle in order to not have a big bay window break, along with making sure inspection passes. Lastly, Lindsey (spelling?) was amazing to speak with over the phone. She is who I communicated with to make payments and will be coming out to do the final walkthrough and inspections to ensure everything is done right and up to code. So kind, so helpful, truly a delight to speak with. I would happily recommend Foundation Repair of CA to folks in our area and hope they get the same team we had. Top notch!"

"Hoss and his team Rosendo and Antonio did a great job on my roof repair. The recent storm blew away my roof shingles. When I explained it to Hoss, he was able to accommodate my request to send a roof repair guy. I saw them work fast and efficient with a reasonable price for the work. I recommend them for your home repair and contract work. Thank you Hoss and team."

"They are honest about things that needed to be done, that he could or could not do. He has a lot going on and so he has to work on bigger project first but that is common. Sometimes if he do not have a big job you cannot really expect to get quick service, that kind of goes for a lot of people. I would use his services again in the future, as eventually it’s the right thing."

"The were very punctual and nice but follow-up wasn't that great. The person never came back to paint the door or put the weather stripping or door handle on. They said that the switch for the window was old and searched for one but it never got resolved. I thought they were very nice and friendly and did try but after a while I never heard from them, so the job never was completed. Granted, they haven't billed me for the extra time but I'd like to have it done. <br />"

FAQs for foundation, basement or crawlspace waterproofing / encapsulation projects in Ben Lomond, CA

The most affordable way to waterproof your basement is with interior methods like waterproof paint, costing between $1 and $8 per square foot, or silicate concrete sealers priced at $4 to $6 per square foot. However, these solutions are only suitable for certain issues. If your basement moisture is due to more serious problems like a cracked foundation, you'll need more extensive (and costly) repairs.

Absolutely! Waterproofing your basement is a smart investment that can increase your home's value. By keeping your basement dry and free of moisture problems, you protect your home's structural integrity and make it more appealing to potential buyers. Plus, taking proactive measures now can prevent costly water damage repairs down the line.

The time required to waterproof a basement depends on the selected method. Some approaches to interior waterproofing, like paint or sealant, can be completed within a day. Installing new drains or weeping tiles will need at least two to three days of labor. Any forms of exterior waterproofing that require you to excavate land will require an additional three days of work to prepare the ground.

Yes, basement waterproofing can significantly increase your home's value. A dry, leak-free basement is a strong selling point for potential buyers, enhancing your property's desirability and market price. Investing in professional waterproofing not only protects your home's structural integrity but also ensures a healthier living environment by preventing mold and mildew growth.

Waterproofing both the interior and exterior of your basement offers the best protection against moisture. Exterior waterproofing stops water from penetrating your foundation, while interior methods manage any moisture that does enter. If you must choose one, exterior waterproofing is generally more effective, as it prevents water from reaching your home's interior in the first place.
