"Everything looks good after the work was done. I can finally close my bathroom door. I appreciated the fact that the foreman Erick Baez, went over what was done as they were done. I also appreciated that the two installers Manny Erickson and Jesus Villagomez also communicated with me after they were done to reassure that they did a proper job installing the jacks. Very good to know how the process was going. Great job."

"From beginning to end, everything went well! They did everything that they promised, including taking good care of our new french drain that was located near the work site.  They arrived on time both days and cleaned up at the end of the day. They took all of my questions and concerns with a smile, and always took time to show me what was going on. I learned so much about my house and plumbing during this process! <br />"

"Working with Streamline Pluming from the time of inception of me wanting to replace the lateral in my home until the work is done as a positive and hassle-free experience. Their price is very competitive, their conduct was professional and they deliver what they promise in writing. In addition their work complied with all the local requirements whether it is a license, passing inspection or cleaning the worksite afterwards. I highly recommend Streamline and I would hire them again if I ever need another lateral to be replaced. Thank you Greg, April and Crew for a job well done. Your stratified customer, Yousef Bayou Castro Valley"

"All work was performed professionally and well. I'm around the house lot, so I saw the Bellows plumbers working, and they knew what they were doing. I wasn't thinking about replacing the old disposal until they showed me how close to leaking it was. Since I knew that the disposal was really old, it wasn't a big surprise that it was just a matter of time until it started leaking. And a no-brainer to replace it. My wife and I found the kitchen faucet at Home Depot, and the Bellows guy removed the old one and installed the new one. We were left with a job of finishing the caulking around the sink (it had moved during the faucet replacement and needed to be recaulked), but that was fine. I'm okay with caulking, rather not pay a plumber extra to do that. On the pressure reducer valve (PRV), they brought the related plumbing up to code (and safety standards) by adding an expansion tank at the water heater. Then they installed the PRV that I had found recommended on the internet, even though they usually installed a different, also recommended model. I was happy that they were willing and able to follow what I had found to be the best PRV for the job. They took care of getting the air and junk out of the supply lines, and left the pressure adjusted to 75psi, nice to have a job really finished. I do have to say that their rates are high, I'll have to balance that in the future. The toilet work, unclogging and changing the flapper valve was over $200, but the toilet is working well now, like new. The kitchen faucet change was over $500, about twice what I had hoped for. Changing the disposal was over $500, including the 1/2HP model that they installed. The PRV work was about $1000 including parts...don't know what to say about that one, no basis for comparison. They did give me an estimate ahead of time for the PRV work, and stuck with it. As I said, all work was done completely and professionally. There is a lot to be said for using a contractor that you can count on to do the job and leave you with a nice piece of work that doesn't need to have them come back to fix or finish. On the other hand, the rates charged seemed high to me. I'm willing to pay more for plumbing work that's done well, and I don't feel like I'll need them to come back. I'll figure out in the future if I feel that I can continue to pay their high rates. Confidence in their work counts for a lot for me, though."

"Very good. Here are the details: called a number of companies that do sump pump work. Only these guys and another vinyl sheeting company came to the site. I chose these guys because their upsell wasn't as strong and I appreciated that. Our crawl space has a lot of ducting and not much space to crawl. They removed dirt, installed the plastic barrier and then the vinyl (?) sheeting. Epoxied it to the house. Finished as expected. Once they left, I went under the house and was very happy with the install  - the points of attachment and fastening were strong and numerous. I was able to get around easily. The best part is the house now is smell free. I started by wanting a sump pump and ended with something altogether different, but I think my initial idea was bringing a garden hose to a forest fire. This is the way to go. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Benicia, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
