"Great! After going round and round with a big box store, we decided we’d had enough and called Matt. Told him what we were looking for and he came out with samples. In less than an hour we had selected a carpet and three weeks later we had beautiful new carpet that we expect to last us for many years. Knowledgeable, helpful, expert installation and clean - all for a fair price. Highly recommend!"

"As I said the oak stained hardwood floors turned out wonderful and new carpet recently installed seems a good choice. Lou (owner/service manger) will work with you on pricing and selection. All in all I highly recommend Shore Side Carpet if you need flooring work done in your home or business."

"Everything went perfectly. Al Cleaver came out, with a good knowledge of what color our existing floor is, and provided us several alternatives/choices that would match. We had seen three previous flooring stores, and somehow nothing seemed to work out. We put down our deposit, and arranged for the wood to be delivered and acclimated in our home prior to installation. Every appointment was kept, on time, and communication was excellent. They did a superior job installing and within the timeframe we were told. Any mess was kept to a minimum, and cleaned up. Highly recommend this company. I have recommended this company to my neighbor and realtor."

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"Everything went very smoothly. I compared a couple of places and had heard good things about them. They came out and measured. They were extremely helpful in the store when I was trying to pick out what I needed. They helped me put the samples in the car. When the carpet was replaced, they did a terrific job. I will use them again for future carpeting or floor replacement."

"Free estimate and as we were unsure if we wanted an area tiled or not, they allowed us to keep both the carpet samples and a ring of tile/linoleum samples.  We ended up doing the tile ourselves, as the price for that was fairly high, and it was nice to have the carpet sample (a large sample, not a tiny one) to take to the store when picking tile and grout.  The price and quality of the carpet and pad was great.  They didn't push us into the most expensive one, made suggestions based on our lifestyle, family makeup, and location where it was to be laid.  When the time came for installation, they were quick and professional.  Highly recommend this company! <br />"

"Aaron is a true professional with dedication to his craft. He is also an excellent consultant on options that will hold up over time. Once the project starts, your interests are represented well as he make choices that lead to an excellent finished product. His prep work in particular and surface preparation was impressive. I have no doubt these will be long lasting floors and if I need repairs or other support later he will be there to provide insight and options. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Berlin, MD

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
