What I loved about these guys is that all the products they installed were American made products, warrantied for 25 years! "Roberto took care of or lawn maintenance at our previous home. We bought a new home (new construction) in Discovery Bay. We had him give us an estimate to landscape the entire backyard and side yard. His estimate was VERY AFFORDABLE! We agreed and he and his crew started that next Monday. Roberto and his crew are punctual, clean, honest, respectful and the hardest working crew we’ve ever came across. We had concrete poured, sod installed, added drainage throughout, irrigation and so much more. Entire project took 3 weeks!! AMAZING!! I loved coming home and seeing so much progress done everyday. "The last time I painted the entire house; stucco and trim, it cost about $3800. So I was surprised when the bids for just the trim were from $2200 to almost $3000. I chose Dave Casteel because he was very personable during the estimate and first meeting. His bid was also the lowest and I didn't see there was very much difference. His company also received very good reviews from Angie's List. Unfortunately, while the bid came in fairly quickly, the work kept getting delayed. From various telephone conversations, I think he'd taken on a lot of work and might have miscalculated the time required. Once they got started, one worker (Nick?) did the pressure wash one day and then the painters didn't show up for another few days. The two painters seemed to do very little to prep the wood in general except for a really badly chipped frame at the dining room window. I expected a lot more preparation - scraping, sanding, putty - based on my previous conversation with Dave during the estimate phase. However, I figured they knew their business better than me. When they finished the first day, they'd left cans and bottles around the house instead of putting them in the garage. It wasn't a big deal - not a lot of garbage - but it wasn't what I expected. Also, they'd taken the screens off - expected - but misplaced the metal holders at the bottom. I found several on top of the electric panel, several more in the dirt under the windows and another, obviously run-over and squashed, in the driveway. Again - not helpful or professional. The second day I pointed these out and they said they'd take care of it. I also pointed out the front door and screen door paint was uneven, the putty showed through (it hadn't been sanded) and generally needed another coat. When they left that day they said they'd need to have someone else come back to finish. By then, Bill 'was going on vacation' and Nick was in charge. He did his best and was very personable but it took awhile to get things finished. By then I realized all the windows had been painted shut! Nick did his best to fix that too, but in the process, broke one of my windows. He replaced it by the next day - no charge. Overall, it was a frustrating process. I am satisfied with the paint job - it looks good and so far has held up. But all the interruptions and mistakes were frustrating after I expected a more professional and responsible job."

"Michael was contracted to paint our home over a period of 3 days and the job ended up taking almost 6 days. I hired Michael for his extensive painting experience, but he did not actually do the work. Even with the additional work that we added, I do not feel that this should have added more than 1 day. He had primarily 1 painter (who was very good) that did the majority of the work. I think that Michael should have had 2 painters working on the job or have worked himself to meet his commitment. This may not have been a problem except that we had a moving company scheduled to deliver our household items. The work was generally done well with some small attention to detail missing here and there in the house. Michael was patient with us in choosing colors and offered some advice... although being clear to point out that he did not feel color selection/matching was his strength. Overall, his advice was helpful. We had problems with the texture matching of the living room ceiling and they tried a second time to match by extending the area they retextured.... I requested that we retexture the whole ceiling to be able to insure that it would look ok. The drywall company that Michael recommended wanted an additional $600 to correct their work (This was an independent company chosen by Michael). I ended up hiring another company to do the same work for $250 which was done very well. Michael came and repainted the ceiling - charging only for materials. My greatest frustration was at the completion of this work. They left and never cleaned up any of the room and did not replace the dining room light fixture which they had removed. I ended up removing the paper covering the floor, cleaning the room and finishing the work myself. Michael never called to see if I was happy with the final work. I found both the lack of cleanup and follow-up very unprofessional. I also feel that some of the final touch up that should have been done was not because Michael was frustrated with how long the job had taken. We are planning to repaint the kitchen and family room because we are not happy with our color choice... which was shared with Michael. At this point, I will find someone else to do the work because of the lack of follow through at the end of the job. Although I am generally satisfied with the work that was done, I was not pleased with the lack of planning to complete the job on time as committed... that the overall cost was higher than expected (even with the added work) and mostly - the lack of final follow-up. As a note, the original estimate was less than others I had received, but ended up being more than some of the competitive quotes I had received which included painting ALL of the ceilings in the house. I also waited over a week to see if Michael would follow up before posting this review."

"Nato had previously done landscaping work for us in our front yard, and we always intended to have him do the back. We called him to come over for an estimate and he arrived promptly and gave us a verbal estimate. He is as good as his word. When the extent of the job changed (we added some extras), the bid changed appropriately. The crew was quiet (no loud radios or shouting), prompt, and hardworking. They persevered despite downpours of rain! And the fence is an absolutely beautiful work of art constructed from scratch and embellished with lots of high-end extras. We are (as always) delighted with the quality of work. We highly recommend Zarco landscaping for their professionalism and the exceptional quality of their work!"

"Highland Landscape was awesome!  We have completed two major projects with Lee.  The first being a major deck remodel and the second a paver / artificial turf patio, with an engineered stone retaining wall and a fenced utility yard. Lee was very easy to work with and provided great design ideas and cost saving suggestions.  
Lee helped us through the design, and kept us thoroughly informed all the way through each of the projects with regular and detailed budget updates.  Even with scope additions on our part, Lee was able to keep the projects on budget without ever compromising quality.  Lee was always onsite during the work, so there was never the worry of something having to be torn out or redone.  They were clean, and respectful of our privacy.  Lee and and his Foreman Manuel  are true craftsmen.  
We would highly recommend Lee and Highland Landscape for any landscape, hardscape or decking project small or big!  While we were glad to start enjoying our new yard, we were sad to see Lee and Manuel go.  Our projects with Lee came out better than expected, and our family will enjoy our new yard for years to come.  We are already trying to figure out our next project with Highland Landscape.
