"The installation was performed as promised and scheduled. I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of all involved in the installation. I thought the price was a little steep but the service was first rate. I am very pleased with the finished work and I would and will recommend them. In fact, I have placed them on speed dial for all my heating, air and plumbing needs."

"Ron's Old Time Plumbing is just the type of company my father would like, want to do things correct the first time. Very informative and explains what he is doing at all times. Scheduled for 9:30, called and asked if they could be here earlier! Great Job and I have found my plumber for the house."

"Tony came (3/3/22). As always he did a great job. The washing machine flooded in the morning and Tony came that afternoon. Checked all the pipes and washing machine. Took care of the issue and made sure to clean up after. Tony is very professional and explains the problem and solution in a way the lay person can understand. He is also a great guy. Very pleasant and fun to talk too. Dixie is not the cheapest in town, however you get what you pay for. We've been care-plan members for several years and it has paid off bigtime!! I highly recommend Tony and Dixie."

"They came out when they said they would be here and they were extremely professional in helping us determine what was wrong with our ventless gas fireplace. They went through the entire system just to make sure there was nothing else contributing to the lack of gas actually getting to the fireplace. I would use them again for any plumbing issue in my house."

"The electrical box was originally located inside a closet, so that was relocated to the outside per code. The septic line under the house was completely demolished and they installed a new line. Later we found out that the property didn't have a septic tank, and Caldwell was quick to come back and move it to the other side of the house once the engineer informed us where the septic tank needed to be installed. They couldn't connect the septic line to the septic tank, only stubbed it outside. They also made sure the line to the city water was replaced. Re-wiring was great. They were willing to install extra outlets in different rooms that weren't originally there, and also wired to install an HVAC system. Also re-wired for a new water heater. Came out a separate time to hook up the water heater when we finally had purchased it."

"Had to run to Montgomery for an emergency for my elder parents due to Ac not working. Called Jeff on a neighbors recommendation. Could not have made a better choice. To say Jeff was through wouldn't do him credit. As a general contractor for over 30 years he is by far one of the best I've ever seen. No reservations giving Hammonds my highest recommendation. "Long story short - Professional but pricey! Originally I was told that a fee of $60 (truck fee) would be deducted from the total charges for services and repairs. However the technician said differently. So, I called the office and got nowhere until I asked for the owner who, of course, was unavailable. I then, told them that I knew that they were on Angie's List and that I would certainly write a review stating everything that happened with this visit. Only then did she instruct the technician to waive the $60 fee and quot;just this one time she saidand quot;. The repair was done but not without a fight for fairness. BE AWARE! <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Billingsley, AL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
