"Mr. Richardson has been in the carpet installation business for over 20 years and now runs several installation crews that install new carpet under his supervision. To make my comments short and to the point he is absolutely Marvelous and his price even more marvelous! By using an extremely expensive "stretcher" and slides under the heavy Mission Furniture he straightened out all the folds/wrinkles in approximately 1 hour and the cost of his services prompted me to ask if he was sure that was all he charged? Highly recommend as he and his company are absolutely superb and extremely reasonable in Price!"

"This process took 5 days and was much better than I could have imagined.  The sanding system used included a vacuum  so that the dust left in my house was very minimal.  Very professional people- from the first phone call through the entire process.  I will use them again because  of that. <br />"

"The professionals at Carpet Outlet were absolutely wonderful! They were kind, punctual and efficient. We used them for two different jobs and both sets of installers did fantastic work! I LOVE the results!! They were able to match our new hardwoods to two other rooms that were already installed. Plus they went above and beyond. Due to our error we needed to have some new carpet that was installed in a bedroom closet redone because of a water issue and Mr. Mike was so wonderful to come back out and fix our little issue with no problem!!! What a wonderful group of people!!!! I’m so grateful for their help!!!"

"Superb! Roland has years of experience in the business and does a thorough job of cleaning the carpet. Plus, he is on time and easy to work with. Today was the first time I've ever had my tile/grout professionally cleaned and it made a huge difference! Prices are very reasonable and I will continue to use this company regularly."

"<p>It was in March when I had my floors installed.  It's now July, and my husband and I LOVE the floors.  The crew for Mr. Hardwood was exceptional! We set our consultation appointment up at our convenience, which was the very next day.  The entire crew was very easy to talk to, knowledgeable, thorough, and accessible through the entire process.  We have a one bedroom, one bath, condo in Midtown that we would like to rent out.  They brought many samples of the wood for me and my husband to choose from.  The crew only took one day to install them.  We are going to use them again.</p> <br />"

"My experience with Don's Carpet One - Vestavia was absolutely amazing! Keith is very knowledgeable and understood my goals. I went in with a budget to accomplish floors, bathroom vanities and new countertops for both new vanities and the kitchen. Keith fit everything into that budget and my house looks amazing! I would recommend Don's Carpet One to everyone and certainly ask for Keith when you contact them. First Class customer service."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Birmingham, AL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
