"Ed retrieved the carpet from Home Depot, saving me their delivery cost. He removed the old carpet and padding, then installed new. He swept the bare floor before installing the pad, and vacuumed the carpet when the job was completed. All told, it took him about 2 hours. However, he didn't have to install tacking strips (since the room had already been carpeted), so if your job needs those, it would take longer. Friendly, courteous, prompt."

"They were excellent. They are going to be coming out and repair our hardwoods as well. They are going to cut the rug down to size while they are out here. We picked out the carpet and they cut it down to the size I wanted and bound it. They brought it out and laid it. It was reasonably priced, more than buying nice throw rugs. They have put hardwood floors in our other house. To fix the hardwoods he will charge by the hour. One rug is 10 by 12 and the other one is 15 by 12 and I paid $900 for both rugs. It included the delivery, binding, and the felt pad underneath. It was the cheapest that I was able to find."

"Had an issue with my floor drain backing up in my finished basement.  They pulled carpet back, cut out sopping wet carpet pad, bagged it all up and took it too the street.  Along with that the owner, Mark Weiler, came out and ran some tests on the moisture in the walls.  He found that the walls needed to be dried out, they were very damp as well.  He then placed 4 dehumidifiers, 5 fans to get things drying out.  Once dry, they will proceed to replace carpet pad, re-stretch and re-seam carpet.  This work will be completed today."

"<p>We used JP Flooring at the recommendation of our contractor that we were using to do the floors.</p> <p>Pros:     Installation part went well.  They needed to replace the vents after the initial vents came back a different color and they did that without any issues.  I would recommend the flooring installation group.</p> <p>Cons:    Working with the client contact Teresa.   When we first started, we had to wait a long time to get a quote because they said their computers were down.  This was the last part we needed before we started our kitchen process.  I had to call back a few times to try during the next week and just get a quote.  I called a few times to get ahold of Teresa and it was hard enough just to get her to call me back.  Since the contractor (who was great), had recommended her, we were willing to shrug this off.   </p> <p>When the work was completed, we were initially quoted that the removal of tile would take two days and it actually took 2 hours.  I called our contact to true up the final bill for what went over and what went under the initial estimate, I was told that we could not get a credit for the difference in hours because they pay the estimate by the job and not the difference between the actual work and initial estimate.  After I expressed my disappointment (this over charge amounted to $700), and said our work with most contractors was based on an estimate and we true up at the end (and that is how I deal with customers in my work), I was told "I do not know how you set up contracts at your work but I assume you are not in the flooring industry."  Although I disagree with them, it is their policy to pay by the job for installers and you get a set rate no matter how hard or easy it was.  I was more disappointed with their customer service.    I feel like if the installation time went significantly over the estimate, JP Flooring would charge you.  </p> <p>If you ever used JP Flooring and were charged more for installation, let me know because I have an email saying they never charge more.  </p> <p><br /></p> <p>To sum up, while I feel that the installers did a good job, I feel like you can find a lot of other providers on Angie's list that can give you the same installation at a lot better service level.  </p> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Blanchester, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
