"My existing window well had pulled back from the homes foundation over the past 20 years, allowing water and sediment to enter the well. Sediment would plug the drain causing water to build up and create an aquarium in the window well. You pass waterproofing installed a new window well and securely fastened it to the cement foundation. They carefully removed the previous window well and took care not to brutalize the surrounding landscape. Completely satisfied with their work"

"I wanted to have the fan for a Radon mitigation system installed in the attic area above my garage, but knew that access from my basement to the garage would require routing of the mitigation pipe above a dropped ceiling in the finished portion of my basement. Only two of the four companies that I'd contacted were willing to quote a garage attic fan installation, and SWAT Environmental's quoted cost was lower than that of their competitor. As a consequence, I suggested that SWAT send a representative to review my installation to ensure that the cost that they'd quoted for a garage attic fan installation wouldn't need to be adjusted. SWAT's representative, Jayme, arrived at my home at the scheduled time, reviewed the installation and agreed that a garage attic fan installation could be accomplished for the quoted price, but indicated that I'd have to call the office to schedule an appointment because his schedule (and those of other installers) was already booked. I called and was able to schedule an appointment for Jayme to perform an installation a couple of weeks later. Despite a later than expected arrival, Jayme was able to complete the majority of the installation (pipe routing, wiring and fan installation) before he had to leave. He returned to complete the installation (cover and seal the sump pump pit) about a week later when a second appointment could be scheduled. I initiated the post-mitigation Radon level test with the kit that had been left with me a week after the mitigation installation was completed and ran the test for five days. The report from the test lab indicated that the radon level in the "living space" area of my basement had dropped from a high reading of 8 pCi/L (in pre-mitigation tests) to 1.2 pCi/L and this post-mitigation value was confirmed by comparison with a Radon monitor that I'd purchased through amazon.com that indicated a "long-term average" of 1.24 pCi/L for the same five days. It's apparent that the Radon mitigation effort in my home was successful. I'd have no concerns about recommending SWAT Environmental to others for Radon mitigation."

"We were in the inspection process of buying a house, and Greg agreed to do an estimate, even though we knew the crawlspace might have been a deal breaker for us since it was in pretty bad shape.  The home inspector suggested a vapor barrier.  I searched Angie's list and found Greg and his crew.
Another local company I called would not come out to do an estimate since it was only a home inspection, and we weren't 100% sure we were going to buy the house, let alone complete the work after the purchase.
Upon talking with Greg the first time, I had a feeling that he was going to do a good job and be easy to work with.  He was very straight forward and truthful.
The crawlspace was a dirt floor, and probably hadn't been touched in over 20 years.  It was dank, wet, full of bugs as evidenced by the webs and old traps.  It was also had the beginnings of some rather serious issues from the neglect.  The bones were good, but it was definitely time to dry it out and start over.  Originally, I was looking to get the sealed with concrete and Greg suggested a new material, a spray on material, to use instead.  He assured me it would be strong enough to be used for storage items.  It would also save us 4 inches of clearance over the concrete, which makes a difference in a crawl space.  I decided to go with it, even though it was a brand new method at the time for Greg and his team.
We decided to move forward and buy the house and we also decided to hire Greg and team to help transform the space in to a working storage area.
I could not be more happy with the result.  Greg's team showed up and immediately got to work.  Even though the house was not being lived in at the time and other contractors were there, the entrance and work areas were covered in plastic which is good thing as the guys coming out of the crawl were covered in mud.  I was surprised out how swiftly the crew got to work.  They got the job done quickly, and were extremely professional throughout the entire process.
After a fantastically wet spring, it turns out that a foundation crack was causing some very minor seepage from the outside after all of the work was complete.  Other houses in the area had their entire basements and crawls completely flooded.  Greg came back and sealed a very small crack free of charge to finish up the job.
I wish I had more crawlspaces to give Greg and his team more work.  I will definitely use them again should the need arise."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Boone-grove, IN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
