I am a single woman and we all know that many contractors like to take advantage of the lack of knowledge one might have in this area.   I interviewed many contractors for my project and found most to be substandard (to say the least) to my needs.  I found Bernal Construction from the time I first contact them to be very professional. Their Project Manager, Louise Williams is on top of her game from beginning to end.   It was a delight to work with her on this project.  She made sure that every thing was on track with this project which was delightful, since I was not in town for most of this remodel.  I knew I could depend on her. The owner, Raul Bernal is not only a great craftsman but insists that every detail of the project be up to his standards, which are high.  Both Raul and Louise are detail oriented and insisted that the job was perfect before giving their final blessing and handing me my final bill.  And even though the final payment was made, every time I call with a minor issue, they have been right here to correct.  I have felt very safe and secure not only with them but with their whole team of craftsmen. Thanks for inviting me into your family and for all the hard work!  GOOD JOB ALL, and I love the end result.

"Earlier this year we decided to do some home remodeling at our house. We agreed to remodel the kitchen, master bathroom and replacing the entire floor throughout our house. Selecting the right construction company for us wasn't difficult and hard as we thought it would be because we were lucky enough to have a friend that hired Pure Home Remodeling before to perform several remodeling projects and they were proud to refer them to us. To our house arrived our project manager and he gave us all the requested information, ideas and estimate. We were shocked by all the important data and materials we needed and it proved us how much we know. More than that, He gave us a great amount of explanation on how they work, what should we expect from him and his office and how long should it takes. This information was very important one. The complete remodeling process was very smooth and easy. Our project manager and any one from the working crew were excellent! Fast, skilled, easygoing and really take pride in each work they did or do. It took close to a month to finish everything. We valued the fact that they were so eager to work and to do it on the best side of perfection. "It went well.  Tyler was very knowledgeable about various critters' prints he found on my property. He had good suggestions for deterring predators ... but was not helpful in implementing those measures.  No references or anything.  I still have yet to find someone to install the kind of fencing he suggested.

i have to state that since someone had already messed up this job before Steve Letwinch got to have a go at ,it I was in the mode of watching everything like a hawk.  Two days after the start of the job I found that I could relax--the job site was left clean and swept at the end of each day.  The workers arrived on time everyday and worked at a good pace--I was probably a bit of a painby always "just looking in"  to watch what and how they were doing things.  Boy, what a difference from the other contractor.  Each worker knew what he was doing and they were actually working.  The jobs were tackeled concurrently - mainly the kitchen and the bath .  The third area was installation of the floor part of a deck.  There was some music ,but, it was at an acceptable volume and I noticed when Mr. Letwinch would leave the site for a reason he always spoke to one or two of his workers (I imagine they were his second in command) and reviewed with them what he wanted done,how he wanted it done and when he would be back.  Upon his return I noted that he inspected the work that had been completed in his absence and made sure it was to his standards.  At one point he was not satisfied with the mudding of the drywall and just made the worker redo the wall. He was just as pickey with the painters.  I felt I could relax because he seemed to as picky and detailed oriented as I am. 
The job was actually finished 1 day before it was promised-- that is something I have never experienced before -- and the final product was great.  I noticed that he was double checking valves, plumbing and lighting the day he was finishing.  We did a walk through-- there were no problems.
Seven or eight days later he called me --he had started another job in Mission Viejo and was going to be passing close by my house and wanted to know if he could stop by.  Since I was home and not busy I consented.  He just wanted to make sure in person that I was happy with the job and wanted to know if I had found anything that wasn't to my satisfaction -- I couldn't believe it!   We walked through the kitchen and bath as we chatted  giving me plenty of time to remember if there was any little thing that wasn't to my liking.  As he was leaving he told me he gets most of his work through referrals.  I can understand--I certainly do not hesitate to recommend his work and him when I hear someone is considering doing a small remodel or a whole second story. Also this knows his way around the permit process-- I was very impressed with his interaction with one of the code inspectors that came out to sign off on the job. In talking to the man he does jobs from $5k  to $500K  He can build a spect house or take care of fire damage or do a small deck.  He evidently also gets houses ready for market.  I would use him in the future as he was willing to discuss my problems, what I wanted out of the project and he came up with some great ideas that saved me a little money along the way.

"Doug refinished some teak cabinet doors on my boat. These were very tricky, as the veneer is thin and delicate, and they needed the old varnish sanded off. I was worried that sanding might damage the veneer, but no problem. The doors look like new, and teak veneer is intact!

He also solved a unique problem for me at the marina. I needed to figure out a way to stow my kayaks. He designed and built a very nice solution, using pressure treated wood, to survive the salty environment.

Happy with the results of these jobs, I also had him replace a window at my house.

Hire this guy only if you want the work done on time, at a reasonable price!

Signed up for an Angie's List Deal with United Top Quality Construction. Joel, owner/contractor, contacted me quickly. I sent him a picture and description of the job. The exterior door to garage needed replaced, including door jamb, supporting studs and header that were too damaged by termites to keep. Joel arranged to pick up door and materials, then was able to complete job within the time purchased through offer. Angie's List Deal made the cost very fair. Joel and his helper were professional and helpful. They did a great job with the install, with minimal destruction of the stucco exterior. I'm planning on hiring him again for another exterior door replacement that is also not a straightforward job.
