"The job couldn't have gone more smoothly. April, in the office, initially allowed me to provide pictures and measurements in order to guide the determination of the appropriate size, thus eliminating the delay of waiting for someone to come out to measure. It was quickly determined that the size was a standard one and the panes were ordered that same day. The installers came out within the same week to install. They were professional and courteous ... and did an excellent job. They even cleaned the doors (both the two panes they repaired and the two they didn't) so that the entire glass wall looks absolutely clear."

"Though he couldn’t entirely fix the problem, he was incredibly kind and professional and stayed as long as it took. He repaired the shower door as best he could for the time being. Would definitely call them again!"

"I recently had Metrowest Glass come to replace a few broken windows and install a shower door. The installation team was professional and very detailed oriented. Stephen even helped me pick the hardware and I absolute love it. He exceeded expectations in terms of cleanup, communication and finishing touches. The shower door fits perfectly with no gaps."

"First thought this would be a simple regrouting job due to a lot of cracked grout and a couple loose tiles in our shower, but one contractor (based solely on photos) diagnosed a systemic mold issue that would requre a full shower renovation. Then we called Chris who actually inspected the damage, and posited (correctly it turns out) that the issue was solely due to leaking around the window in the shower. After removing the tile and old backing board, we saw considerable rot in window sill and wall stud. Chris removed the rotting wood, then actually built in a new wood frame for the backing board that wouldn't interfere with being able to replace the window itself. He then put up new tile and grout, and three days later it all looks good as new. We supplied the tile and window threshold, and Chris did all the rest. He was very personable and patient with all my questions, and clearly communicated everything he was doing. Would highly recommended CB Tile for any bathroom tile project."

"Some months ago we decided to have our two small bathrooms remodeled. We live in a very early 20th century house which was initially a tile factory and we are reminded daily of some of the myriad problems associated with such an old and odd dwelling. I suspect that it must be close to fifty years since the bathrooms were last renovated. We received estimates from a number of contractors. We decided on Bay State after meeting with Ray Y, the owner of the company, who impressed us with his professionalism and commitment. In addition, we consider that the estimate he provided was very fair and appropriate. The work began in late June 2019. Every step of the way Yuri, the project manager, efficiently organized the various stages of the bathroom remodeling from demo day to the finish product. He was always available to talk about the project, present the different options, troubleshoot, and answer questions with a smile. We were abroad for awhile in the middle of the renovations and Yuri reached us by text and phone when needed. He was everything, and more, that one would wish for in a project manager. David, another manager, also provided superb guidance during the work. He was excellent at assessing and solving fast and judiciously any problem small or large. He and Yuri were a great team orchestrating a complex ballet of competent craftsmen who all did a splendid job. There was Dino the electrician, Shimon and Mike the plumbers, Paolo the painter, Paul the glass specialist for the bathtub enclosure, Francis who renovated the hardwood floor next to the bathroom, and Marcio, the framing specialist. Interacting with them all and with their teams was a pleasure. But the artisan we got to know best was Darly, a very talented tiler and carpenter. Part of the Jack and Jill bathroom is located in a dormer under the roof which made everything more complicated, in particular the installation of a barn door. Darly worked with admirable patience and great skill until it hung and closed just right. All personnel were excellent and are to be recommended. So, we have a brand-new bathroom with which we are very happy. We now look forward to the renovation of the second one this fall. It’s likely that it too will pose some challenges. However, we are confident that Bay State will meet them expertly and that we will have a beautiful second bathroom. A very strong recommendation for Bay State. Brendan & Simone"

FAQs for glass shower door or enclosure repair projects in Boston, MA

The type of glass shower you choose depends on your household size, lifestyle, and budget. Custom designs and frameless doors will cost more to install and repair. Framed glass shower doors can be a more budget-friendly option.

If your glass shower has many people using it daily, you also want to opt for durable glass options, and you’ll need to stay on top of maintenance and repairs.

Regular cleaning and sealing are key to keeping a glass shower door in its best shape. A glass shower door looks great in modern bathrooms, but when the glass is covered in dried water spots or smudged fingerprints, it can make the entire bathroom look messy.

  • Apply water repellent: Water repellent costs about $5 to $10. Use it to help wick away water droplets from the glass.

  • Squeegee the walls: Keep a squeegee in the shower, and use it to remove water from the glass after each shower; this only takes a few minutes.

  • Weekly cleaning: Each week, use a glass-safe cleaner or a foam cleaning eraser to scrub down glass shower walls.

  • Monthly cleaning: Check caulking and reapply as needed to prevent leaks, particularly for frameless doors. Clean the tracks to prevent the door from sticking.

There are several glass treatment options out there that can make it easier to keep your glass shower door clean. Treatments can help keep soap scum, corrosion, and pesky little fingerprints at bay. You might pay as much as a 30% upcharge on the price of your glass shower door to add a protective coating.

Even with a protective coating, you have to clean your shower. If you are diligent about wiping down shower walls after use and giving the glass a more thorough cleaning every week, you can likely save money and skip the added glass treatment.

If your shower endures heavy use from multiple family members and guests, a protective coating can make it easier to keep the glass spotless.
