"Spencer and Albert came out to the house and encapsulated part of the basement. They were professional and polite. They came in, encapsulated the space, cleaned the area up. I would definitely recommend them"

"Matt Quattlebaum was on it immediately and put a tarp on it the next day to prevent further damage. While we eventually went with another company that also had good ratings on Angie's List and were cheaper, we would not hesitate to use Christian Roofing and Remodeling in the future. They could not have been more professional with follow ups done immediately. Matt was basically a very nice person to work with as we went through the whole bidding process."

"Prepped and painted bedroom walls.  Moved furniture to paint and replaced it.  Caulked and painted master bath baseboards.  Also furnished and installed downspout screens to all downspouts outside. |Quality of work was excellent and work was done timely.  You never have to worry that you will be left hanging."

"Hour home was showing water damage in our kitchen from recent heavy rains and I called Trademark based on Angie's List of reviews to come out and look at our roof and see what he could do and recommend. <br /> <strong>THE GOOD: </strong>Sam, the representative of Trademark, showed up on time which I was happy about. He appeared to be likable, knowledgeable and professional. He inspected the kitchen's ceiling and looked at the visible damage. He confirmed that the ceiling was damp using a moisture meter. He proceeded to look in our attic and was able to find where water was visibly settling on the insulation and sheet rock. He took some photos and later showed them to me. He then inspected the roof and found a number of areas that he felt might be source of the leak. He also took more photos and pointed them out to me. He then made his recommendations by offering me a temporary fix which was to caulk/seal the troubled areas for $199 which I felt was reasonable. He also recommended a roof replacement based on some damage due to "blistering" and areas that showed signs of wear and poor roof installation from previous work done and the original installation. He showed me more photos to support his recommendation. He also recommended I contact my insurance company to see if any of the water damage would be covered. I did that and the insurance adjuster came out on Saturday and approved my claim. <br /> <strong><br /> THE BAD: </strong>I asked Sam what the square footage of my roof was and what it would cost to replace it. He said there was a similar house in our neighborhood with the exact layout and square footage as mine. He said he had completed a roof replacement for this home and he would pull the numbers from this job in order to provide me with a quotation. He tried looking up the information on his laptop that he brought with him and couldn't find it. He said he would provide a quote for the replacement and get back to me the following day. The following day came and went without receiving a quote. I called him the next day to asked where the quote was and he told me he got hung up on some work and that would get it to me that Saturday. Today is Tuesday, 10/13/15 and he finally sent me the quote that I was promised several days ago. I'm a little disappointed in his follow-up."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Bostwick, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
