"Bob removed the old carpet quickly and efficiently and suggested the floor be painted to reduce odors from the old floor.  He was flexible with time - removing the carpet a week before so I had time to paint the floor. <br /> Bob Graham did an excellent job laying the hardwood.  He was very particular about the wood and the overall look of the room when it was finished.  Bob made suggestions to save money, but also suggestions to improve the look of the room, like vent covers and baseboard.  Bob wanted the entries from the front door and into the kitchen to flow well and not create an area to trip over.  He looked for wood that fit the change in height.  He was very particular, reducers were too high and went to store to find the correct wood type.  he finished any wood he needed.  <br /> Bob also laid on his stomach to remove old carpet from under a cabinet that was installed over the carpet.  He then cut the wood and glued it, so it appeared the cabinet was installed over the wood. He added $115 to his bid for this extra work, but it was worth it.  The finished floor is beautiful.  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"They were very careful in their recommendation of the right kind of floor that would work over a heated floor. They had specialists that were able to provide good advice regarding the kind of multi-color wood pattern that will work well decoratively with the rest of the house and will stay attached reliably to the heated floor. The wood flooring required many intricate cuts to make the pattern look right. They were very careful to prevent the spread of saw dust into the house. The work was done very professionally and the pattern came out even better than we were expecting. They cleaned up after themselves. The price was exactly as quoted and the job was completed on time. The only difficulty was the manufacturer didn't send the amount of molding that was requested so that last little bit remains."

"They were good, quick and timely. I wasn’t here and I don’t think that they left any mess though. I am satisfied with their work. They came out within three or four days when I called them and showed up when they said they were going to. It cost about as much and took about as long as they said they were going to. Everything was pretty upfront and pretty reasonable. They were extremely nice and friendly."

"Laura was the project manager and the consultant. She was very attentive when I told her what colors I liked and what features that I wanted to include in the remodel. She came back with appropriate choices for me. She did all the shopping for me and let me pick from five or six different design choices. She was very willing to work with local contractors as well as bring in contractors that she knew to be reputable. The local contractors I knew personally. The contractors that she brought in were very respectful of my home and they worked very hard. She had brought in some innovative ideas that were well appreciated. She was conscious of keeping the project moving along. They wasn't much down time and she kept it moving along as quickly as possible. I would undoubtedly recommend her to anyone. Very easy to work with."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Sioux Falls, SD

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
