"Fine work done by very helpful installers. They moved furniture, stripped carpets, painted with KILZ where necessary, recarpeted and replaced furniture. The work was done cheerfully and accurately. Andy Wagner was knowledgeable and his pricing was fair. I would recommend his company any time."

"We couldn't be happier with our new vinyl tile flooring! Karen patiently worked with us in selecting the product and the pattern/style. She even stopped by our house to advise and answer questions and as a result, we feel that we were able to make a wise choice. (In addition, Karen stopped by a second time when installation was nearly complete.) The installers were competent and knowledgeable and completed the job on time. We will definitely work with Messner in the future!"

"After the first layer of old flooring was removed it was decided that another layer had to be removed in order to remove the old dishwasher I had purchased and install the new one. The installer spoke to the sàles person at Page Countryside to make sure there was enough room to get the old dishwasher out and install the new one. They had to remove a second layer of vinyl to do this, and that vinyl was glued to the plywood. It was a mess and took them a full day just to get this old flooring removed. They needed an extra half day to instal the new flooring. They took careful measurements of the dishwasher area to ensure that everything would be ok fotr that install. Because of all thadditional wok involved, there was an additional charge but it was very reasonable, $75. The guys who did the installation were professional, friendly, and knew their stuff! The floor looks outstanding and I will certainly recommend Christie Carpets to anyone! <br />"

"I spent several months visiting the location to choose something from the remnant area as I was on a strict budget.  When I finally could wait no longer to make a decision, part of the remnant I wanted had already been sold.  Rick and Nancy worked to find what would work and even harder to actually schedule the installation as by that time they were fully booked for the Christmas holiday.  However they did find time to do the installation for which I was extremely grateful! <br /> While their inventory is significantly less than other carpeting installers, their prices are as well.  If you can afford to wait and find just what you need, there is no better vendor! <br />"

"Being new landlords, we were looking for a  reputable  company to install flooring  in our newly renovated 1200 sq ft duplex.  We had looked at several other stores before going to The Carpet Spectrum.  When we  met Dawn, we told her we had just purchased our first rental property and would like some guidance.  Her helpfulness and knowledge about all types of flooring convinced us we were in the right place.  She helped us pick out carpeting for 2 bedrooms, a stairway, hall and living room and vinyl for the kitchen and bath. The installation was on time and done very well. We were thrilled with our choices.  We enjoyed working with her and her team of installers and would choose The Carpet Spectrum again. <br />"

"Our realtor referred Larry to us as we were in a hurry of finding some carpet for our new house. I called a week in advance, scheduled the measurement during the walk-through, met Larry in the store to pick the carpet, and they came to install in two days. We were happy with the store experience with Larry, who was helpful nd informative. The guy doing measurement was very friendly, informative and professional. The only thing we were not so happy with was the guys came to install the carpet. They were punctual and nice at first. After they finished the job, we went to check it and found lots of yarns still left in the room, on the hallway and the staircase--even though they vacumned it. We asked if we can borrow their vacumn machine to clen it up because we just moved in and our moving container hasn't arrived yet that we have nothing we can use, and also we have a 9-month old baby crawling around and putting everything in her mouth. Once we asked, the guy became hostile and said it was only courtesy that they vacumned it, we were going to find a lot of falling yarns because of the type of carpet we chose, and they were very busy that they had another installation to go to. We were stunned. We originally were going to use them for another two rooms carpet installation but now we are going to try other stores."

"During the installation of poxy flooring a contractor from Pro Carpet did the installation of the poxy flooring. It took me calling back and having the sales representative Nick Distante come out and look at the poor installation of the flooring. The flooring took three applications before the installation was satisfactory. <br /> Now it has been one month with traffic on the floor, the floor has turned dull and appears to be dirty and scratched. In my initial consultation, my concern was scratching from the dogs toe nails. This flooring has failed in meeting the expectation of what was presented. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Brighton, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
