"Bill Shea's Replacement Countertops are very easy to work with. I had two different salespeople and they were both very pleasant and very organized. I had talked to them about a year ago and then forgot about and then finally decided to go ahead with it. He offered some other suggestions about the type of countertop I picked and his suggestion was better. That turned out to be really good. It works for me. My kitchen looks bigger. It's lighter. We replaced the countertop and sink for the bathroom. She brought me a whole bunch of different things to look at and we decided on the one that I wanted. She suggested putting a backsplash on it, which I hadn't thought of, because my original counter didn't have one. But she suggested it and it looks really great. "

"Fantastic! We found a countertop we loved through the deal offered through Angie's List which kept our costs extremely low. The installation team were in and out in a few hours, and when I encountered a small chip I hadn't noticed in my first inspection, they were back in 15 minutes to repair it."

"Hagit and Carleton were easy to work with. They responded to our ideas and created an exciting contemporary design. They provided expertise that makes our medium sized kitchen feel spacious. They came up with efficient and aesthetically clever suggestions to make the cabinetry and countertop beautiful as well as functional. We also recommend their installer, Brian, who took great care in aligning the cabinets so that we achieved a flawless result."

"I sent a request for quote via Angie's List in the morning, for drilling a hole in my granite countertop so that an under sink filtration system could be installed. I got a call in the afternoon of the same day from the owner and an installer was sent to my house in the evening. Devon, the installer, was very polite and professional. He did a great job very efficiently and cleaned up everything after finishing the drilling. It was pleasant working with this company and Devon, and I would definitely hire them again!"

"Okay let's discuss Craig and his services. Back story - I have a very small house and have never gone through a renovation before. This is such an expensive proposition and I wanted to make sure I was going to get it right - aesthetic choices in the kitchen, redoing a bathroom, reconfiguring our living space to be one big open room and how to manage that flow, and how to integrate it into the part of our first floor that wasn't part of this renovation. I literally didn't know where to begin: Hire an architect because we're bringing down walls? A structural engineer? A designer to sketch the space first? I found Craig on Angieslist and reached out thinking that he would be the smartest first step in this project. He has *easily* been the best money I've spent on this six-figure job. He responded to me immediately and came out to my house for a consultation. We immediately clicked, and his professionalism and perfect attention to detail were obvious. Without hesitation I hired him to help me through this, though I didn't understand at the time exactly how much I was going to need him. Here's what this wonderful man does: He made multiple renderings of our space to help us envision how to better use it (this involves a complete reconfiguration of a kitchen and bathroom, walls coming down, etc...) His vision made complete sense, and as I wanted to make minor tweaks here and there he rolled with me and redid the renderings. Once we knew how we wanted to configure the space, he gave us an intense packet for us to get bids on this; he also introduced us to a general contractor who we decided to use for the renovation. Knowing Craig and his expectations made me so comfortable to use the person he recommended - AND this contractor's price beat the others. Instantly the money I spent on Craig paid for itself. Once we got the contractor in motion, Craig then began to bring in the aesthetic options for us to choose from. My husband and I both have crazy full-time jobs; I don't want to visit showroom after showroom to research all kinds of materials. The stuff that was really important to me I dove into (counter for the kitchen island, for instance.) But the other stuff? Craig would give us 4-5 choices and let us pick. Perfect. Instant choices that are sophisticated and match the vision we laid out for the space that I didn't have to spend hours on AND that were within the budget we'd discussed with him. Even better is the fact that the pricing he gets on these materials is at HIS rate. Our cabinets would have been $35,000; his rate cut it down to $25,000. Today I priced out appliances at a local showroom; he took the exact specs to his rep and brought the price down by 10%. Again - I'm saving more money overall than I'm spending on his services. For the stuff that is important to me, he has conversation after conversation with me about how to make it work, and we're also working on a brand new island countertop material to try to get the marble look I want without the upkeep. It absolutely requires more work on his part to get to know this material and to help make sure it's the right choice, but he didn't hesitate when I told him I'd like to pursue this. When our contractor found a flaw in our plan that was going to leave a support column in an awkward spot, he literally worked for hours on how we could either integrate it into our design or eliminate it altogether. I knew I was hiring the right person to help me make the right aesthetic and material choices when I hired Craig, and I was happy to pay for that. What I didn't know was all of the service and bonus extras that he would bring to this renovation. I didn't know I'd be able to get better rates by going through his vendors. I didn't know I'd find a contractor to work in coordination with him over the course of the project. And I didn't know that he would literally help me make every choice that I need to make, from the bathroom mirror to the tone of the flooring to the pendant lights. I literally couldn't do this project without him. He's the best money I've spent on this house that we've owned for 15 years."

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Brookline Village, MA

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
