"I used to have sporadic flooding at the front and rear of my townhouse. P&A cleared and upgraded my garage trench drain, installed a sump pump in the garage, and another sump pump at the backyard entrance. Everything looked great but the real test came when we recently had heavy rains. After a full day and a half of storms my neighbor's basement flooded but mine was bone dry. The best part is I could just relax and not worry about bailing water out of my house anymore."

"It cost me $450+tax to clear the drain, which took less than half hour. I admit it was my ignorance that I did not ask specifically how much would be involved. I assumed they would charge more or less what the other pros told me. Mistake! They could have told me though. The technician was good and courteous, and he fixed my problem."

"This guy is simply awesome. He does not come with a big ego or a need to tell me how good he is. He also did not complain (thinking he might get a tip). He was, in addition, $600 less than another quote and the work was done fast and perfectly. We now have a "go to" plumber. I strongly suggest that if you need anything done in the plumbing, drain or pipe repair area - this guy is GREAT. His name is Alfanso."

"If only every service company/contractor were Sessa Plumbing! We have been using them for eight years now and wouldn't consider changing. Their prices are a bit higher than average but we feel it is more than worth it for the courteous, professional, reliable service they always provide. They have done both small jobs (leaky faucets) and major ones (replace a major drain pipe in the basement, which required taking up a concrete floor), and we have always been satisfied with their work.

"Done-Rite finished rebuilding a small half-bath for us yesterday, and my wife and I couldn’t be happier. Dan gave us sensible recommendations and ideas even before I engaged him. He gave clear and specific descriptions of the work he would do in demolishing and rebuilding the bathroom, and when an unanticipated mold problem was discovered and increased the scope of the job, he addressed it quickly and adjusted the price in a very reasonable manner. He was accessible at all times. Additionally, they replaced drywall in sections of our living room ceiling and repainted the entire ceiling. Dan and his assistant, and the gentleman he engaged to install tiles on the walls and floor, were dependable, appeared when they said they would, did excellent work and cleaned up at the end of each day. We are thoroughly satisfied, will probably use them again and I would recommend them highly."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Brooklyn, NY

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
