"I interviewed several contractors for my main bathroom remodel and chose VKB for their professionalism, design, and overall approach to the process. My objective was to have a large shower with a seat since the existing shower was the size of a phone booth and the bathroom configuration presented challenges. From the very first meeting with the design consultant, BURJU, I was impressed with her ideas and suggestions and her willingness to work within my established budget. She didn't recommend or suggest unnecessary or unwanted over the top items that would have blown my budget. Project manager, JASON, was on top of everything, stayed in touch with me almost daily, made sure I had all the correct cabinets and fixtures, provided me with his cell number, and asked each time if I had any questions. Last and certainly not least, MARVIN, the wonderful person who actually did all the nitty gritty hard work, worked nonstop to give me the bathroom of my dreams. I've never seen anyone work so hard and with the precision and perfectionism as he did. I absolutely love my new bathroom and would not hesitate to hire this team again. If you want beautiful, quality work, VKB is the place to go."

"American Eagle Building is the best contractor I’ve ever worked with. They are honest, responsive to their clients needs, fair with pricing, and always respond to inquiries and questions. I have done multiple builds with them (residential and commercial) and have referred them to many people. I highly recommend."

"We had known for a while that we intended to get a sunroom, and looked at Maryland Sunrooms as well as Patio Enclosures and a general contractor. For the quality and price we were looking for Maryland Sunrooms was clearly above the competition, and we never regretted going with them. From our initial discussions with them, through signing the contract, all the way to the completion of the project and beyond what we appreciated most was that we were able to always communicate directly with Mike, the owner, and Pete, our project supervisor and they were always responsive and helpful. On top of that, we were beyond impressed and pleased with Saul, who actually did almost the entire construction himself besides pouring the slab and running the electrical, which they subcontract out. He's incredibly talented and was so wonderfully easy to work with, which was especially important as we were coordinating siding and gutters contractors and plumbers as well to do work in conjunction with the sunroom. The final result is simply stunning, and we have no regrets at all about a year out. We'd happily recommend Maryland Sunrooms to anyone."

"The Deck and Fence company is a great business. I have been doing business with the Deck and Fence company for over 10 years. The Deck and Fence company installed a composite deck at my home 10 years ago. As a repeat customer, I reached out to get an estimate to have a brick patio installed. Chris and team were very responsive and met my design needs. Chris and team under promised and over delivered, as my patio was finished ahead of schedule. I recommend the Deck and Fence company and they take care of repeat customers."

"The sun room is absolutely beautiful.  We and our cats both love it and we’re out here all the time. They were a little slow in getting started but once they got started they completed the work in about a week.  A team of 4-5 complete the work. They were good about cleaning up after themselves each day and we were  comfortable having them in our home.  When you call them, Holly is great.  She was great getting us vertical blinds. Also, when Hurricane Sandy hit, it damaged the metal roof and they came out promptly to fix this.  I’m so glad we did this."

"When I bought my circa 1984 Reston town home 6 years ago, I didn't realize how many things were not "standard" size. When the Fairfax County Fire Department forced entry through my front door (due to a small fire next door) which caused me to replace both the door and the jamb, not even *that* door could be installed without serious tweaking and modification by professional door installers. Therefore, it came as no surprise that when something as "simple" as a sliding screen door on my deck, which was the wrong size to begin with, finally gave up the ghost entirely, the search to find a properly fitting and functioning screen door became a quest. Nothing HD and Lowes sold would fit. Nor were their employees vaguely knowledgeable. I found an on-line company that custom makes screen doors/windows to specification, but measurements had to be to taken (by me) to the closest 16th of an inch. Their on-line instructions were rather intimidating and the diagrams caused more consternation than confidence. Although I am capable of many home fixes, I was concerned that I would spend over $200 only to wind up with a non-returnable 32"x80" paper weight. My living room is small and most of the rear wall is comprised of French doors that look out across my deck and trees. I've always considered it a living painting and often thought a retractable screen would be most aesthetically pleasing, allowing the view to be uncluttered by screening, which currently was seen through one side of the door or the other, regardless of its position. Not to mention I had a high degree of concern that the door be absolutely bug-tight! I love to let the air in, but not bugs, which seem to have an affinity for both my deck and my person. If the screen door could not fit tightly enough to keep out the smallest of intruders, then I might as well seal the doors and treat them as windows. I called no less than 5 contractors/general handymen from Angie's List hoping to find someone who would take measurements, install and, if necessary, tweak a new sliding screen door. No one would touch the job. Too much trouble for too little money, they said. I found Tri-State by trolling the web. They had a "cicada special" in May. I called. Phone staff was friendly, informative, answered all my questions and allayed most of my concerns. It was more money than I had been willing to spend when I began my search two years ago, but after ending up at so many dead ends the cost was softened when I factored in their warranty, that they come and custom fit the door on your property and they will come out and address any problems for two years. I told Tri-State I had to have my siding painted before I was ready for the screen door, so the installation was finally done in June. I was told they would come between 8:00 and 9:00a during the week. They came at 8:15 and I was on the road to work in a hour. Carl and a helper measured my doorway, set up a saw horse and custom fit the door on the front sidewalk after plugging in their saw in my kitchen (no outlet at the front of my house). They installed the door jamb on top of the existing aluminum threshold. Carl showed me how to re-seat the screen in case some person/dog walks through it. Also, how to keep the tracks clean and lubricated with silicone spray (NOT WD-40). They left me a can of lubricant when they were done. The whole process was quick and painless and I wish I had bitten the bullet a few years ago. I'm very happy that I have an unimpeded view of my deck and trees 24-7 and I am looking forward to having my door open to the air while keeping the bugs out once the humid summer changes to autumn. <br />"

"Needed a new roof for my house and detached garage.  After doing some research, including Angie's List, I chose this contractor. It was a good choice. The owner came to do scope the job, consult about options, and do the estimate. His team appeared on time and worked 12 hours straight to finished the work. The communication throughout the job was excellent. They replaced the shingles, a few weather-damaged plywood sheets, three skylights, vents, and the roof the the shelter for the pool filter/pump unit.  They cleaned up the site as a home owner would expect.  And I am very pleased with the quality of the work.  All in all, first rate. I will consider this contractor for other work in the future. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Broomes-island, MD

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
