"In the end, TWD was more concerned with moving onto their next project and less concerned with finishing our project to our satisfaction. We paid them $12,000 to start the work. Our job was just underway when we got a letter from an attorney letting us know they would be putting a lean on our house immediately following the completion of the project if our final payment was late for any reason. We feel this is a scare tactic TWD uses to ensure they get paid quickly so they can duck out the back door if necessary. The clean-up crew left a mess. They did a very poor job. When it came time to paint our house TWD did not offer any guidance or color samples. We wound up very unhappy with the colors we selected and wanted to repaint. Ultimately we were told, "We believe the product turned out great. We apologize the paint colors weren't what you were hoping they'd be." So I guess if they're happy with the job when it's finished, but you're not, you're SOL. Buyer beware."

"Josh and his team were amazing. I live out of town so doing this through video and photos whether perfectly. And my home was dry and safe. He even went to bat for me when he insurance company was pushing me around in getting paid. His team took over 300 photos and reading to help me get the repairs I needed. "I highly recommend AZ West Painting for both interior and exterior jobs. We had our prior home’s exterior painted a few years ago by Cris Arevalo and crew, and they did an excellent job. Recently, we needed a full interior paint job on our current home, so we contacted Cris again. He arrived the same day we called and gave us a quite reasonable estimate for ceilings, walls, woodwork and cabinets, and also provided a veterans discount for my husband’s military service. I provided only a brief description of the colors I had in mind and he made some terrific suggestions from the extensive paint samples he brought with him. He outlined expectations clearly so when the job started, we had our home prepared, with everything out of the way. The job was extensive and was done efficiently within five days’ time. Cris was extremely responsive to our needs, stayed in touch, followed up and made sure we were satisfied. He provided suggestions throughout the job (e.g., new cabinet hinges and drawer pulls were a nice touch, and he painted a free-standing cabinet to match). No request was too large or too small for him to fulfill, and when we identified a few needed touch-ups and adjustments, he came back to make them, cheerfully. If you want a beautiful outcome, a fair price, efficient and professional service, and a nice personal touch from a kind person, go with AZ West Painting. Thanks, Cris!"

"We met Joe from Desert Mesa Painting when he was dropping off flyers for their business. We decided to have the company bid on the exterior painting of our home, then contracted with them, and they did an excellent job. We sold that home and had Joe back to bid on the interior painting for our new home. Again, we were impressed and happy with the work."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Buckeye, AZ

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
