The repair option was less expensive, though not guaranteed to resolve the issue - as a few different things could be the root cause and it may need replaced entirely. I chose to repair it, and thankfully it resolved the issue at very little cost. Grateful to KC Metro Plumbing for following up with us on our inquiry so quickly, and coming out the next day (before freezing temp's outside were forecasted to arrive just 2 days later).
