"The installer was very polite and did a good job with the shower/tub conversion to a walk-in shower. The install process was relatively smooth and quiet with minimal interruption to our house. I am glad I hired BathPlanet to do the install."

"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"We hired Jack some time ago for some big jobs and are having issues now because of shoddy work done at the time. First, both bathrooms’ ceilings were painted with flat paint. Over time, the moisture caused the paint to flake and mold to form. A semi- gloss should have been used, which I would have expected a professional to know. We had them install a jacuzzi tub. The plumber mixed the hot and cold lines. We had to shut the water to the jacuzzi off to be able to get hot water in the shower. We will be selling soon and this will not be a cheap fix. The upper cabinets they installed in the kitchen are coming off of the ceiling. The rest of the work was okay, but not happy about having unprofessional with done after we paid so much."

"We used Jakubek Remodeling to remodel our two bathrooms. After the amazing work that they did for us, we now highly recommend this company to others. This was the first major home renovation we did as new homeowners, so naturally, we were nervous. We had consultations with three other contractors before a neighbor referred us to Jakubek and we could not be happier. From quote to final walk through, Dawid and his team were transparent and professional. Our building allows work to begin at 8 am and they were on time every day, ready to work. Our project was done on time and on budget. There were a number of small tasks and decisions to be made throughout the project and he worked through every single one with us. Beyond giving this company the highest rating in all aspects of their business, we must let the results speak for themselves. They completed our project just over a month ago and we can honestly say it’s more than just two beautiful bathrooms. The plumbing, fixture installation, and craftsmanship are all top notch. Thank you Jakubek Remodeling!"

"Our project was significant because it involved a very large and heavy steel beam. Chester solved the problem of getting it into the house and installing in a relatively tight space. His team performed well and with no damage to rest of house. His price for this work was very competitive and I would go to him for other remodeling needs."

"We selected G and G after reviewing bids from other contractors and checking references. In both projects, kitchen and bathroom, G and G was very flexible with our meeting times and dates, timely with the layout revisions and adjustments, and responsive to questions. G and G’s recommended vendors for materials such as flooring, cabinets and granite were top notch but not overly costly. It is always hard to live without a kitchen or bathroom and Frank and the crew were focused on getting it done but getting it done RIGHT. Our Kitchen project – 2007 – took approximately 4 months, required the removal of a wall, moving the placement of the refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, and redoing all of the lighting to consist of recessed cans and pendants. We selected cherry cabinets, black granite, glass backsplash, and installed a VERY large island that seats 3 to 6 with a large workspace. The granite seating area needed reinforcing underneath and Frank worked with us to ensure it looked inconspicuous. Frank even designed ‘cubbies’ with electrical access for phone and tablet charging and storage. When you look at the cubbies you cannot see the charging cords or the devices! Finally, Frank designed a special storage location in the island for a wooden stool. I’m sure G and G would tell you we were ‘particular’ clients but the team accommodated all of our unique choices and needs. Our bathroom project – 2012 – took approximately 3 months and required removal of a jet tub, installation of a heated tile floor, installation of a VERY large shower with dual shower heads, floor to ceiling glass tile pillars and glass enclosure, and a free standing elliptical shaped tub with a tub filler. G and G was adaptable and flexible to all of our changes and unique requests such as electrical outlets under the sink to hide the electric toothbrushes. G and G also updated a second bathroom with new cabinets and counter top. We are very happy with G and G's craftsmanship and service . The crew was timely, polite and clean. We knew where they were in each stage of the projects and if there were delays, we were aware of the issue immediately (i.e. back order of tub filler, special design needs due the granite configuration). Frank is in constant communication with the crew and you, visits the site and follows up on the final ‘punch list’. Great contractor!"

"We desperately needed to update our main level. <br /> The entire main level had ceramic tile which was cracking and in some places entire 12X12 tile would come up.  Kris and his team came in and removed all the tile and they did a great job blocking off areas they were not working in to keep the dust down and once the new floor was put down they covered the floor to protect it from getting damaged.  They prepared the sub floor for the new tile and hardwood floor to be put down on the main level, stairs, and upstairs hallway. <br /> We also had recessed lights installed in  kitchen, breakfast area, family room, and living room with dimmer switches, Kris did a great job accommodating our request with the number of switched we wanted and which we wanted to control what set of lights.   <br /> We wanted to replace all kitchen cabinets and countertops, Kris and his team removed all the cabinets and countertops in one day and took all the debris away that same day.  Kris recommended a countertop fabricator who we used to get the new countertops and have it installed by, they did a great job also. Kris's team also disconnected all the appliances and reinstalled them once the job was completed. We had provided Kris with the design and measurements of the new cabinets, once they were delivered he was able to use the provided design measurements to complete the job and it looks great.  Kris did a great job of making adjustments as needed to accommodate for our walls and ceiling not being straight and at perfect 90 degree angles. <br /> We wanted to replace our front door with two side lights, with a new front door and side lights and a new storm door.  Kris did a great job removing the old and installing the new door and storm door.   <br /> During this process we had him update the powder room with a new toilet, vanity, lighting, exhaust fan, and paint. Again needless to say it turned out excellent.  <br /> They painted all the rooms and ceilings as we had asked, we just provided the paint needed for the rooms.  <br /> The thing that I noticed and like the most about Kris, is that everything that required attention detail such as grunting, painting the trim, painting the corners where the ceiling and wall come together, the electrical stuff, Kris preformed all of those services himself. They did a great job of cleaning up every day before they left for the day, and hauled away all the debris from the day with them each night.  Kris did a great job making recommendation when he knew something wouldn't work, and when he thought there was a better solution. <br /> We have already recommended Kris to two of our close family friends who have seen his work and were very impressed.  We plan on using him again when we replace all the flooring in the bedrooms, and when we renovate the master bathroom. <br />"

"- It's going fantastic!   The interior of the house is really changing to the way a classic should be.  He's removed lots of the old 70's tragic tack ons, and putting the house in proper order with woodwork that matches original structure.  James is a delight to have in our home - he is professional and pragmatic,  He plans his work down to every detail.  He is a strong communicator - he will never surprise you with something he ran off and decided to do on his own.  He asks questions about every aspect of the project, and helps me with my best thinking and planning on each project.  He has also kept me from needlessly spending money where I did not have to. <br /> On top of being a finely skilled carpenter - he is a fine man.  I trust him in our home with our kids and dogs.  He's got a great wit too, and being an Irishman just adds to the charm.   <br /> .I truly appreciate how organized and clean his work habits are - he protects the house where he is working - and always leaves it clean.  He even helps out in areas that aren't his -example today - some stain a floor refinisher was testing in another room was stinking up the place, and James asked if he could put up a plastic barrier to keep the fumes out of the rest of the house.  Of course I said yes, and in moments it was done - a true gentleman. He treats every job with the same level of importance, even if its just a cleanup. <br />"

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Burlington, IL

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
