"They were professional and helpful. Base price was good. Add on’s we requested drove up cost. One thing that could have gone better was a stain in the carpet that soaked down into the pad. The stain kept coming back and spread. Instead of steam cleaning, I solved it myself we an off the shelf Oxyclean solution."

"Extremely satisfied from start to finish. We first called for an estimate. Mike came to our home at the appointed time (he called first to make sure we were ready for this visit). We had several questions about installation and he answered them clearly. We then made several trips to the store to select the linoleum and found the staff very helpful. They spent a fair time with us. We never felt rushed to make a decision and did not feel we were steered to the higher priced products. The estimate was phoned in and e-mailed as promised. Haw River called the day before the installation date to confirm we were ready. The installer (Wayne Isley) came on schedule and performed a great job. He let us know what and why he was doing, and never was impatient with our many questions. We observed the installation from start to finish - Wayne and his helper (Cody) took their time and obviously knew what they were doing. We are very pleased with all aspects of Haw River's work and plan on having them do additional work in the near future."

"This weekend Footprints Floors installed laminate flooring and repaired the subfloor in two of my bedrooms. I am immensely satisfied by the professionalism of this team and the work that they do. Darwin did an incredible job - the boards are nice and flush with each other, with no gaps. Rob is very knowledgeable, fair, and conscientious, and has a keen eye for detail. He was extremely responsive and communicative throughout the entire process, and is definitely a man of integrity. I will very happily be using Footprints Floors again for my next job!"

"Steven Booth came to my home in Greensboro to measure and give estimate for cork flooring.  He also brought reasonably sized samples so that I could see them in place and make my choice.  The cork flooring was ordered, and installation was scheduled as soon as it arrived at the store.  AAF removed quarter round and installed floating cork floor tiles.  They carefully removed and replaced appliances.  They recycled quarter round and were able to reuse bamboo strip between bamboo floor and cork flooring.  Job was done efficiently, and installers were very tidy and cleaned up all dust and debris.  Could not be more satisfied!"

"<p>My wife and I have never had a more pleasant, professional sales and service experience than the one we had recently with Burlington Carpet One, here in east Burlington, NC on South Church Street. We chose them for our carpet project because of Angie's List recs and once again we were not disappointed with the results.  Meredith, the sales rep was knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating, and very helpful. She assisted us in finding just the right carpet and pad (dollars vs. quality decisions), carefully explained the advantages of each, enabling us to find exactly what we wanted. She explained their process and timeline from selection through installation, allowed us to take samples back to our home to check color matching. Their project guy showed up precisely on time for the measurement appointment.  Then a few weeks later, the 2 man crew that showed up for installation was on time, friendly, quick, courteous, efficient, and did a beautiful job. One of the rooms, the walk-in closet, had numerous angles and cubbies, all of which were perfectly fitted. They even asked us how we wanted the remnants cut up for area rugs and runners, which they then took back to their shop, cut to our specifications, and bound the edges. </p> <p>We seriously considered having this project handled by a big box home store, but we stopped by Carpet One because of  their proximity to our home and because of Angie's List. Once we talked to Meredith for a while, we put alternative plans aside. We would heartily recommend these folks to anyone considering any carpeting job. They are the best we've ever encountered. Every piece of the job is handled by their people, and the ones we were involved with were very, very good.</p> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Burlington, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
