"My wife and I are very pleased with the work performed. We had a 150 square foot patio replaced. Existing patio had many cracks, very uneven, possible trip hazard. Very fine workmanship: showed AB cared about their work."

"Reaffirming all the other reviews. Quote was given at time of estimate, and completed a week later in 1 day. Concrete patio looks great, the workers showed up early and were great, they cleaned up and laid grass seed. Would definitely hire again for next project"

"Tim was amazing during the project, start to finish. He was much better explaining the repairs and finished the project sooner than expected. Tim was great keeping me updated during the project and couldn't ask for better communications. I highly recommended the 95 Concrete and Home Improvement. "

"The estimator, Dennis accommodated my scheduling requests, and changes in the contract, he was there as well, when the resurfacing started. My driveway needed a specific piece of machinery; so they used their subcontractor, which was excellent too. F&M came back 3 days later, backfilled, mulch, and seeded the bare spots, then a rep came by to check on the finished project. I love the look of my driveway now and would recommend F&M to friends and family!"

"I selected J&G landscaping based on the reviews listed on Angie's List as well as a recommendation from a close friend that had previously used their services. Our initial meeting with Jeff Potter (Landscaping Designer) went very well as we articulated our requirements to improve the hardscape and landscaping of our large corner lot. Jeff was able to provide us a detailed plan to replace the front brick walkway and brick patio with TechoBloc Pavers. The design included some very creative and innovative designs, improved the drainage by elevating the patio and inserting buried drain pipes and some major improvements in the landscaping adjacent to the walkway and patio. J&G was able to reduce landscaping costs by transplanting numerous bushes and perennials that were removed during the installation of the hardscape. The work took a total of five days which was scheduled by Greg Potter around our vacation schedule. We were also very impressed with J&G's timely and professional response to correct some minor deficiencies we noted and some changes we requested during the install. They definitely exceeded our expectations when the work was completed. We love it!! Our neighbors are very jealous!!! We look forward to working with J&G Landscaping on our next project."

"I hired Barry after doing extensive research, first online through Angies List, and then by meeting each of the selected contractors at home. He was not the cheapest one, he was not the most expensive one either, but boy oh boy am I glad we chose him. Besides A+ Remodeling who did our deck, I have never had the pleasure to work with contractors with the same level of work ethic and professionalism. Barry was on the job every day with his crew. They all knew exactly what they were doing, and as a side note, I could understand each and every one of them, which was refreshing.  <br /> They cleaned up the work site, my driveway, and any dirt that ended up on the street as a consequence of their work every single day before they left. They answered all my questions patiently. They were punctual and polite.  <br /> It took 4 days from start to finish. They did not rush the job at any point. They did not cut any corners. They actually went the extra mile whenever possible to make it look as good as it possibly could.  <br /> Barry left us with extra sand, and 6 extra pavers of each size. He also left us with a gorgeous patio and doubled the curb appeal of my house from the street with those edges on each side of my driveway. <br /> 1/3 of the payment was done at the contract signing, the rest was paid off after completion of the work. I have zero regrets in spending the extra money and going with Barry. It was worth every cent for the quality of the work performed. <br /> NOTE: I was limited to 10 pictures on the review. A LOT more pics of every step by step of the build can be seen here: http://www.pinterest.com/gattospam/patio/ <br />"

"COLUMBIA CONCRETE RECENTLY POURED A CONCRETE SLAB FOR A HOT TUB, AND A SIDEWALK FOR OUR RESIDENCE. FROM OUR INITIAL MEETING WITH DAVE, THE OWNER, THROUGH COMPLETION OF THE JOB, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY AND THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT. DAVE GAVE US SOME HELPFUL IDEAS AT THE INITIAL MEETING, WHICH WE INCORPORATED INTO OUR PROJECT. THE WORK CREWS WERE ALSO SUPER. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT, AND THEY WERE PERSONABLE, RESPONSIVE AND EXCELLENT TO DEAL WITH. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERIENCED CONTRACTOR WHO DOES GOOD WORK, AT A VERY COMPETITIVE PRICE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CONSIDER "COLUMBIA CONCRETE AND STONE.""

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Butler, MD

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
