"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"I had a question about microwave repair. He answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately new parts are no longer available for model in question. He gave me part # if I wanted to call around for a used part somewhere. Got lots of good info."

"I was able to reach Mike last Saturday morning, the night after I discovered the problem with my dishwasher. Based on the information I gave him, he was able to give a good estimate of what he thought might be the problem and the anticipated costs to repair the machine. He was able to schedule an in-home diagnostic visit for this morning, Monday (two days, or the first business day after I spoke to him). He and his partner, Brandon were prompt, very thorough and persistent in completely diagnosing the problem especially after the found that what they originally thought was the problem in fact was not. It turn out not to be a malfunctioning thermostat or heating element, but the control board. I really appreciate that Mike was very upfront and honest with me in stating he thought the best option was to replace the 7+ year old unit, but also gave me the parts and labor cost breakdown should I decide I want to repair it. He also gave me some recommendations on what dishwashers he currently prefers (Bosch and Whirlpool), and whether or not I should get an extended warranty (yes if reasonable compared to the cost of parts replacement - and he showed me how to look that up on SearsPartsDirect.com).
My only disappointment came when he presented me with the bill for the service call. $99 seems a little high compared to other appliance service calls that I have received in the past - though to be fair I have not received any service calls since moving to the area a couple of years ago. I admit it was my fault for not shopping around a bit more and not asking about the service call cost before he came to my home, but Mike should have also appraised me of the service call cost before hand even if no repair was performed. The only price he quoted me was for the repair he anticipated would fix the problem. I chose a "C" grade for Mike's pricing because that reflects "Fair" . It would not be fair for me to tag it as "D-Bad" until I take the time to price compare service call costs.

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"

Service was great!  Granted my problem was a no-brainer for the repair team and even I could have fixed the problem, there was no way I was going to mess with my major appliance.  Apparently my water filter connection alignment was off.  Repair team showed up at beginning of service window.  Service was quick and professional.  I would use Cody's Appliance Repair in the future for sure.

The only thing I wasn't aware of is that if I were to use a credit card for payment, I would have been charged 3%.  This may be stated somewhere related to Cody's Appliance Repair but I never saw it.  Not a big deal; I cut a check and only had to pay the $79 for the service call.

"The technician, Joel, arrived during the scheduled time to a**** the damage to our refrigerator done during a recent move - he took pictures, order parts and said it could be four weeks for the parts to come in.
While he was here I asked about some intermittent trouble we were having with our washing machine, totally unrelated to the move. Joel happily looked at the model, asked questions and looked up the part needed as well as he gave me a verbal quote. After he left I called the office and arranged to move forward with the washer repair. The washer part came in quickly and the office said I could wait for the other refrigerator parts or not, my choice. I schedule the washer repair. A couple of days prior the washer repair date the office called, the refrigerator parts were in and could be completed at the same time! Joel showed up during the scheduled time, completed the work quickly and addressed my concern with the refrigerator, make an on-the-spot impromptu repair (that should have cost the mover a new handle) to my satisfaction.
I will call them if I have other appliance repair needs.

"I called this company after checking Angie's List and finding a comment from someone who had a similar problem. The person who took my call was polite and seemed knowledgeable of my problem. I was able to make an appointment for the following day. The repairman showed up on time and worked efficiently and professionally to complete the job and solve the problem as well as removing ice maker machinery which I did not use any longer. I had also asked for help with a malfunctioning microwave and he advised me that repairs would cost more than a new microwave and even gave me some suggestions for recycling it. The copy of the bill he gave me explained what work was done."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Caldwell, ID

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
