"Very thorough and timely. Not cheap, but it very much felt like we got what we paid 😜. David worked with Menards to straighten out a couple of our ordering mistakes and ultimately we ended up with better storm doors installed quickly and well. Very pleasant contractor to work with."

They arranged for a specific measurements by their worker who was going to install. They measured, they arranged for the delivery of the six panel doors, they stained them to match the rest of the stained interior.

Once the staining was completed, they installed them. Their was a slight change in the hardware from the lumberyard so they took that hardware, went to the local box store, obtained the correct hardware and installed that.

They did an excellent job. We've used them several times and have always been extremely satisfied.

"Derek was friendly and professional and his work was impeccable. He replaced my back patio door and my front door. He communicated with me during the process and got input when we needed a new doorknob because the old one no longer was a good fit. I would absolutely hire Derek again and really appreciated his work."

"It went great! I called on a Monday around noon, and Paul came out that evening to give me a quote on 2 replacement garage doors and 2 new, quieter openers. I appreciated that he didn't try to upsell me, while still making me aware of the best options available. The price he quoted was by far the most reasonable estimate I received. We scheduled an appointment for Friday morning, and Joe showed up on time this morning and finished the job within 4 hours. He had everything set up for us and showed us how to program the openers, and even helped me reset the opener in my car. Highly recommend this company!"

"They promptly returned my initial call...came for the consultation...returned with the estimate and began the work within FOUR days!!! (We were lucky they were able to fit us in between some bigger projects they had scheduled) They came at 8:30 AM every morning..(the first morning in the last April snow) and did not leave for other jobs until my porch was done. They built the new north wall and closet....did all the drywall, electrical, floor tile and wood finishing. Perfectly matching the woodwork and closet doors to the rest of my house. From the outside (and inside) it looks like it was original. They were professional, personable, and expertly skilled at all phases of the construction. My cold, open, north facing cement porch has been transformed to a beautiful, functional "Entry Foyer". I can't wait to plan my next project for them!!""

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Cambridge, IA

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
