Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again. "

"I am pleased that we had selected a painting contractor who fulfilled all of the requirements of the contract and then some. Our aging 4-unit wooden condominium complex had been neglected for 10 years and needed extensive preparation and repair in some areas and as well as a complete pressure wash, wood staining, trim priming and painting on all exterior areas. Matt and his crew exhibited the highest caliber of attention to detail and quality of work. They even went beyond the scope of the proposal and painted in areas that should have been included in the contract-with no extra charge. Quality, dedication & integrity are words I think of when looking back at a challenging 2-week job that was, by the way, the most competitively priced - by far."

"We went with Elizabeth Shutters because they are made in the USA and lead time was much less than anyone else. Cost was about in the middle of the others we received quotes on. We were very excited to get our shutters installed. Mike the installer was on time and professional. The issue is the actual quality of the shutters. We only had 5 windows done and every shutter has some type of mark from scratches, chips, gouges and even paint rolling down one. Most of the issues were on the frames but some on the actual shutters. We also were having a shade installed but the bracket was not correct. Things happen and I even understand some issues with product. My complaint is that I reached out to Elizabeth Shutters exactly 1 week ago today. Told them of the quality issues and sent pictures. Also commented that pictures are hard to see everything and I was hopeful someone would come out and look. I also asked when the bracket would be in for the shades. Again 1 week ago and I have heard nothing back. That is not acceptable."

"I'm older than most reviewers so I haven't visited Angie's List a lot lately, but I wanted to let people know what we experienced with this company. Got bids from three roofers recommended by people on a neighborhood app. While all were comparable - we chose Raneri and Long because it's a family-owned company that's been around since the 1980s - and - it had the best policies and attitude about providing great service. Dave Hancock is the boss - and his grown kids, extended family and trusted crews run the show. Chatting with his workers - we learned most have been on board forever - so not a lot of turnover here, nice to see. SIX THINGS WE DISCOVERED: 1) They WON'T accept money up-front. No deposits. That was a first. If you pay up front - you've lost control. I think they know that - which is why its policy puts customers at ease. We didn't pay until the job was done. 2) No sub-contractors. A big deal because it's common for contractors to "sub out" their work to specialists with whom you have NO leverage. But R&L is an "all-in-one" biz that only does what it knows, i.e., roofing, solar, windows and gutters and a few other things. They don't do paint but they know who can. They don't hit you with stuff you won't need. 3) These guys are big about what they call, "trust and verify" - so that common issues like dry rot which causes leaks - you don't take their word for it. They brought down three rotted panels for us to inspect. BTW, you should expect dry rot because it's usually the main cause of leaks. 4) These guys aren't "hired hands" for "spot jobs." They're on the payroll, some for many years. They show up in big red trucks and vans - wearing red logo t-shirts. Shout out to Hector, Jesus, Carlos on-site and Emely and Perla at Mission Control. Can't remember all the names we dealt with, sorry, but they were all A+ - and it felt like everyone on-site was "in charge." 5) They gave us an estimate that was gold. Potential over-runs for dry rot, replacing panels and fascia - were detailed up front down to the linear foot - which INCLUDED materials AND labor. This is key because R&L does NOT use the term, "man-hours" like others - which can lead to "sticker shock" based on worker head counts. 6) They called and emailed us at the end of EACH WORK DAY - to update what they did - and what they were going to do the next day. (Ours was a five-day job.) There was no mess nor stray garbage left behind. LESSONS LEARNED: * The cost for new tile - is only marginally higher than re-using old tile. Because our home is more than 20 years old, we went for the new tile. On the first day, ten people came out at 730a and put tarps around our house and in our garage. By 2p, they had taken out about 2200 square feet of old and dirty tile. Days 2-3 involved ripping out and pounding in new boards, adding water-tight layers of black synthetic "underlayment" on top - (and not the old felt stuff made of tar) - and installed new tile. Days 4-5 were all about installing more new tile - and we saw a lot of precision sawing to make everything fit perfect. Bonus day 6 was us deciding at the last minute to replace a few dingy gutters. * Turns out this company has a lot of videos which break down what they do and why. DO look at them. Browse other reviews - and you'll notice how Dave Hancock and his family ALWAYS respond, esp. to issues that come up because no two roofs are alike. For me - (vs. my wife, who just loved Dave's "old school" manner) - R&L's desire to address problems "publicly" - sealed the deal. It's serious about protecting its brand - and plans to be around "forever." * Our roof is done and it's spectacular. Great service and clean-up - as if they were never here. A lot of good roofers are out there - but we chose one that felt like an experienced surgeon - with calm and caring manners. They will work with you on ANYTHING. They did for us - and we now have peace of mind - with NO uncertainty about what lies ahead. Thank you!"

"Ezra and Charles are very friendly and personable. That is, when they want to take your money. What good is a 12-year warranty if you start ignoring your customers at 2 years. I needed my HVAC replaced. Because the HVAC sits on my roof, I decided to redo the roof too. Ezra and Charles came out and were really friendly so I immediately had a good impression of them. Even though it would’ve been cheaper to go with a roofer and a separate HVAC company, I decided to go with Landmark Construction Crew, aka Landmark Energy Upgrades. I figured it would be a more seamless process for one company to do both. I got this done in December of 2016. The thing with a roof is that you don’t know if it’s a good job or not until it rains so I waited to write a review. Around January 2018 ( a little over a year later ) we got some much needed rain but unfortunately, I had a leak coming from one of my vents. I emailed Ezra and he sent out a roofer. The roofer came, looked at the vent, jumped up on the roof for ten minutes and said he was done. Months later, it rained again, it leaked again, I emailed Ezra again. I decided to take a closer look at the vent and noticed that there was sunlight in the ductwork. I figured sunlight equals gap somewhere. When the roofer came, I told him and he said it’s nothing, probably just a reflection, without even taking a look. Then the roofer tells me that the next time there is a leak, I need to call the HVAC guy because it’s not a roof problem. I couldn’t believe it so I told him that HIS company IS the HVAC guy!! I used one company to do the roof and the HVAC so there is NOBODY else to blame. So, he jumps back on the roof and was done and gone in 10 minutes. About a month goes by and the rain is back and so is my leak. It’s 2019 so it rained a lot this year. Good for California, bad for me. So, I emailed Ezra again. After a few weeks, no reply. So, I email him again with pictures, a few more weeks go by and no reply. So, I call him and he picked up the phone. He sounded surprised to hear from me (probably didn’t recognize my phone number) and I start telling him about the leak. He said he didn’t get my emails but just text him my address and he’ll send somebody. A couple of weeks goes by and nothing. So, I text him again and after weeks and weeks of waiting, no reply. I’ve emailed, called, and texted so, at this point, it’s very obvious he’s avoiding me. If you are looking for a friendly company that is willing to take your hard-earned cash then Landmark is for you. But if you’re looking for a company that is accountable for their work then look elsewhere. I know I am."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Campo, CA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
