"Work was excellent. Mike removed all wrinkles from carpet and you’d never know they were there. He was unexpectedly short handed the day we were scheduled, and he still showed up, worked very hard, and stayed late to make sure the work was done right. Would highly recommend him."

"<p>We wanted new carpet for a small bedroom and adjacent walk-in closet. We had looked at and priced carpet at one of the home improvement stores.</p> <p>Then it hit me! We are members of Angie's list. So we went to the Angie's List app on my smartphone and looked at the various listed providers. Having read many reviews of the providers, we were intrigued by Spanky's, because it was reported that they had a lot of remnants at attractive prices, and we could probably use a remnant since our area was small. We are very happy that we went Spanky's. They had a huge selection of remnants and my wife found several remnants in colors and size that would meet our needs. Linda, our sales person, did a great job of showing us the various remnants and didn't pressure us at all. That's my kind of sales person. We chose a piece and, also contracted the installation with Spanky's. </p> <p>Rob and Warren, the installers, showed up on time and did an excellent job. They were efficient, professional, friendly and it was obvious they were very skilled in their craft. They didn't mind my watching throughout the process. They kept a very clean work area, and worked as a team very well. My wife and I are both thoroughly satisfied with every aspect of the experience.</p> <p>We will shop at Spanky's again, and we will likely buy from them in the future.</p> <br />"

"After the remnants of Hurricane Sandy hit Cleveland, our finished basement was flooded. I looked at Home Depot, and some of the big name carpet places, but before I pulled the trigger on any of that I got a recommendation from my brother-in-law to check this place out. It is in midtown Cleveland, and it feels a bit more like a warehouse than a showroom, but there is a good reason for that. They don't spend a lot of money on advertising, a fancy showroom, or other frivolities, and you reap the benefits of that. The prices are terrific and the service is unbeatable. Josh Cohen worked with us, and he is the kind of guy you wish you could work with on every project. He was extremely helpful and gave honest answers, but never pressured us on anything we didn't want. After we went to the showroom and picked out the carpet, Josh came out to our house the next day and measured precisely. I believe we went in on a Friday, and it was installed by the next Wednesday, which was awesome. If I had bought at Home Depot I would have been waiting nearly a month. The guys who installed it were great; they have been one of Carpet Capitol's crews for something like 30 years they said. I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. What a great price for a whole basement of wall-to-wall carpeting. <br /> As a side note, Josh is a pretty talented artist. Not only does he run the main carpet business, he also creates rug art. A unique and extremely neat skill, he can create nearly anything you have in mind. I particularly enjoyed the Star Wars rug you see on his website, but that's just me. <br />"

"Very well. The staff in the showroom were very helpful in assisting me in choosing the best product to meet my needs. The installers were absolutely magnificent. They were fast, cleaned up after themselves and did a spectacular job."

"We were surprised by a suggestion made by one of the carpet layers for an innovative idea for the entrance to the family room outside. We intentionally left this below the carpeting and wanted a rectangle area at the door left uncarpeted to protect the carpet from dirt. The rounded edges of the rectangle he suggested added a special touch."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Canton, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
