"We were on a budget and needed new carpet in our house asap! These guys were very accommodating to our budget, the installation & removal was quick and painless. Their prices kicked the $h!t out of Home Depot & Lowes. I will definitely have them come back next spring and do the carpet in our family room! Recommended!"

"I called Brian for a quote to have my basement and stairs carpeted. He came out with samples and measured the area. We picked the carpet that we wanted and he was able to give us the total cost. Brian was able to work with us because we were having our basement finished and needed a couple of weeks before the carpet was installed. On the day of install everything went great! They did an amazing job with the stairs and you can't see any seams. Everything was cleaned up and they vacuumed all the carpet. We also have porcelain tile that he did a great job putting the carpet next to. When we are ready to have our main floor done I will be calling Brian! <br />"

"I had three carpet company estimates. Empire had the type of carpet I was looking for and the best color selections. They also gave me the best price. Empire sold me the type of carpet I was interested in instead of trying to sell me something I didn't want, as other companies tried to do. This tricky installation in my old home took place over 2 days, as I needed a bound edge stringer for my stairway (which had to be taken to a binder). On day one, the first team of installers left behind some concerning installation issues. After a call to the installation supervisor Craig (Osler?) and sending him a few pictures of our concerns, Craig assured me he had a clear understanding of the problems, and promised they would be corrected to our satisfaction on day 2. He sent his best installers out to finish the job, and everything was clearly addressed and resolved. He then followed it up with a phone call to make sure we were happy. Consequently we are very happy with our carpet, and delighted with the installation results. It's beautiful. We realize that problems can and do arise, but what matters is that when they do, they are promptly and cheerfully resolved. Craig demonstrated Empire's commitment to customer satisfaction. He came through for Empire, and we would recommend this company to our friends and family (in fact, we have)!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Capac, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
