"The sweep called ahead to let me know he was on his way, but would be about 15 minutes later than the scheduled appointment.  He arrived at his new estimated time.  He and his partner cleaned the chimney and inspected the exterior of the chimney, including the cap and top courses (on a two story house).  He did a thorough job cleaning the fireplace area and scrubbed the interior of the chimney, at least at the lower level.  He ensured the interior of the house did not get messy by laying tarps out neatly across the front of the fireplace, and by placing the vacuum outside the house, running the hose through an open window.  This helped prevent any soot and ash from being blown around in the house.
At the end of the cleaning, he showed me pictures of the top of the chimney which indicated deterioration of some of the chimney brick. He provided an estimate to repair the damaged brick in the chimney and other brick around the house as well as replacing the cap on the chimney.  The estimate appears very reasonable, although I have not yet received another quote on the job.  He did not pressure me to make a decision on that extra job.
Overall he was very courteous, efficient and friendly.  I recommended the business to my girlfriend and she had her chimney cleaned as well.  In addition to cleaning the chimney he helped her fix a damper that was never installed correctly and not closing completely.
