"I was very very happy with Floor Coverings International. The owner Marty was very knowledgeable and very detailed in providing me an estimate to have my stairs and my options for the landing. Upon installation, his team was professional and very knowledgeable as they had been installing stair runners for 30+ years. I was happy Marty was there on installation as well to discuss options, due to how my stairs were constructed. Overall I am very happy with my final product, Marty and his team worked tediously to make it perfect.  If I had gone with another company I received an estimate from, which the price was the same, I know the final product would not have been as beautiful and actually would have caused damage to my stairs. "

"We had our wooden floor refinished by Green Step. They did a wonderful job. The owner was very knowledgeable and responsive. The team did a great job sanding, staining, and adding footboard. They also cleaned well before they left. The price wasn't the lowest I got, but for the quality of the work I'm very happy. Will definitely use them again if I need more flooring work in the future."

"Fermin and his crew painted the top two floors of the house. Fermin was very flexible and clear when providing the quote, punctual when the work started, and the job was done carefully and skillfully. I would definitely hire Fermin's crew again."

"Note: After our "One Star" refinishing job I looked closely for information in the public domain regarding Tri Point: 1.It appears all of the "0ne Star" Google Reviews are omitted from the collection of Google Reviews found at Tri Point's website. I feel mislead as this info would have influenced my decision to hire Tri Point. 2. BBB rating of B- for apparently failing to respond to a 2022 complaint. I think the complaint alleges Tri Point's refusal to honor its one year warranty. You'll have to reach your own conclusion. The "One Star" Rating Such a poor score and detailed explanation could confuse readers of this review so I'll begin by simplifying with 3 bullet points: 1) the attached photos tell the story, 2) in his response to my review Owner admits "The floor did not reflect our usual quality of work" and 3) in order that our floors be brought up to industry standards we must go through the entire process again of packing up our entire first floor belongings and moving them and furniture into storage, disconnecting washer/dryer, moving out of our home for a week, thoroughly cleaning all the dust when the job is done and moving back in. Failure to Properly Refinish Hardwood Floors A day after the job was "completed" we observed uneven staining in every room. Owner visited and acknowledged this problem and speculated it was due to using a "contaminated" applicator. He said the entire floor would need resurfacing and application of sealer. We had to move back in to our home so couldn't vacate for a 2nd consecutive week. The 1st refinishing required everything to be moved out of the first floor and us to leave for a week. Upon return we spent hours cleaning up fine dust throughout our 1st and 2nd floors. We were told refinishing would take no more than 4 days and now it would end up taking two weeks. We weren't led to believe that the irregular staining compromised the floor's performance in any way. But then a couple days later we noticed an entirely different and more troubling problem; peeling of the new surface. Now it seemed there was a greater sense of urgency to do something. So I brought this problem to Tri Point's attention and asked to see a copy of the warranty (their website says what the warranty doesn't cover but it doesn't say what is covered or how repairs are made) and requested Owner to come and thoroughly inspect the floor to identify problems that were covered under the one year warranty that is purportedly provided with our contract. Owner responded to this by stating, "We were terminated ...We have no further obligations to you. Your warranty is void. No further communication is needed." A warranty is one's best protection against negligent performance and outcomes that fall short of industry standards. Problems with Installation of Baseboard Rather than using wood filler to cover nails holes they smeared caulk to only partially cover the holes while making a mess on the baseboard. Before the new baseboard can be painted we will first have to remove all this caulk and properly cover nails with wood filler. Communication Very poor. For example, we were not told that when the old shoe molding (aka 1/4 round) was replaced with new molding there would be a visible unpainted gap along the baseboard. We spent days taking care of this prior to commencement of refinishing. Owner's Response Following the posting of my review Owner sent me an e-mail in which he has has asked me to "...remove all online reviews" in exchange for "giv[ing] [me] detailed warranty info, ...". It doesn't seem right that I should have to barter in order to find out what the warranty covers and how repairs under the warranty are handled. I paid for this warranty and can't understand why Owner won't freely share the information I've requested. Owner may have violated Google regulations by posting my name in his review. Google states "Do not ...post personal information [full/last name] of another without their consent such as: full/last name, ..." His interest may be to harass me & threaten my safety so I'll remove my review."

"Fantastic service. They had a cancellation and was able to schedule me quickly. Most of the downstairs was hardwood and we had planned to just have them refinish it since the previous owners of the house used Orange glow on the floors and ruined them horribly. The living room was the only downstairs room with carpet that needed to be replaced. We were going to replace it with more carpet but was surprised by the cost to carpet just that one room. JH was able to give me a quote to add hardwood to the living room too that would match the rest of the downstairs for not much more than carpet. Even with adding that extra task they still finished on schedule and within the quoted budget and the floor looks amazing. Everyone who sees the floors comments on how beautiful they look. Could not be more pleased."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Carrboro, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
