"I bought a new home and we knew that there was some plumbing issues that we wanted to get someone working on right away. Before we got moved in we had Billy and Howard come out to put in the kitchen sink in and to fix the leak in bathroom sink. When they arrived, they realized that I had ordered the wrong size kitchen sink. They were incredibly gracious about my mistake and went above and beyond duty to help get the right measurements and to talk me through what I should be looking for. We moved into the house on Tuesday. On Friday, after shower and a load of laundry I noticed water coming up out of the main drain. I am a first time homeowner, I had no idea what that meant. I did another load of laundry after mopping up the floor and confirmed that the water was coming up from the drain, not coming from the washer. I called and got Chris to come out to take a look at it. Chris could not have been more kind, more reassuring, and quick at solving problems (and there were several, like the previous owner cementing over the access drain). I cannot recommend this company enough. As a person who knows nothing about plumbing, I was really impressed by how well Billy, Chris, and Howard were able to explain what was happening, what my options were, what the risks were, and frankly that they were able to do all of that without a tinge of condescension. "McDonough's is my go-to for any drain problems!  The guys who came were very professional, helpful and all around great.  They worked a tough clog out of the drain line coming from the laundry room, then checked the main sewer line from the house and did some preventative clearing on some roots (the house has a history of roots clogging the main line and McDonough's has cleared it twice already, which the guys knew so they checked while they were already there and had the equipment ready).  The work was well done, they replaced some aging parts proactively, and they cleaned everything up like they had never been there.  Fantastic!

"The service was great. We had them come twice with the Angie’s List Deal and of course we needed some follow-up work. They were just here this week for their second visit. They came out within a week after we purchased the Big Deal. We connected right away via e-mail. They came out the next week and then, they came out again. So, they were very responsive. They came again and that was a separate Deal, but related to the Angie’s List Deal, there were no additional charges to the $15 Big Deal. It was perfect. They were very clear about the Angie’s List Deal. Instead of paying $150, we only paid $90. We paid a lot less for because of the Angie’s List Deal. There were two things that stood out about them, their professional capabilities so basically, they knew what they were doing and their person ability relationship. Before leaving he carefully cleaned the little bit of unavoidable mess (really really minimal!) and all I had to do was return a few displaced household items from under my sink. "Called and made an appointment. The plumber, Lee, showed up as scheduled. We discovered that the shut-off valve for the water to our condo unit was in another owner's unit. That owner was not home, so we had to reschedule the appointment.
I rescheduled the appointment and was told the plumber would arrive at 8:00 a.m., the first appointment for the day. On the day, the plumber did not show up at 8:00. I ended up calling to see why the plumber had not arrived. I was told that another plumber was out that day, which had thrown the schedule off. (I realize these things happen. I do wish they had called to tell me there would be a delay as the water had been shut off for three units and was keeping another unit owner--in whose unit the main shut off valve was--from going to work.)
When Lee arrived, he apologized for the delay. He replaced the shut-off valve and installed the new fill valve, which stopped the toilet from running. He also lowered the fill water level to save water. Lee cleaned up any mess made by the work and was clear at explaining what had been done and about how to use the shut-off valve in a way that could help it last longer (e.g. not turning it too far or too tightly when turning it off.) Lee explained that I was being charged for the 15 minutes from the first call (when we could not shut off the main water line to our unit) plus labor and parts for this work. (There was an apprentice with Lee both times who was very friendly and professional.)
A few hours after Lee left, the toilet began running again. I could not get it to stop, so I called and got an appointment for a time when I could be home a few days later. For this third visit, Jeff was the plumber. He replaced an O-seal on the flush valve with an extra I had on hand. He also removed some debris from the toilet tank that he thought might be interfering with the seal. He also adjusted the water fill level, which added more pressure to the flush valve, which stopped the toilet from running. He did not charge us for this call, since he was adjusting work done earlier.
Though it was a bit convoluted, we still appreciate the work done. We appreciated the idea of using less water with each flush, and appreciated the "learning" that the water needs to be a certain level to keep the flush valve from running.

"We had a clog in our kitchen drain, which we were unable to remove ourselves with plunging and chemical drain cleaners. I called on a Friday morning. Burkhardt plumbers arrived at my house at 3:00 that day. They were polite, professional, and careful about cleanliness. It ended up being a more complicated job than just a drain, as our original 1959 plumbing was configured in a complicated way. They were very knowledgeable about figuring out how everything was put together and how to find the clog, which was in a pipe in the basement, nearly 40 feet away from the kitchen sink. After using an auger from the kitchen sink, they hit a T-joint through which the auger refused to go, so they took the auger to the basement, opened the drainage pipe that leads to the sewer pipe, and inserted the auger there. That's where the major portion of the clog was. They ran the auger up the pipe this time and got past the T-joint. After they had cleared the clog, they were very careful about cleaning the auger as they removed it from the pipe. Then they went upstairs to the kitchen and reassembled all the drain pipes under the sink, which I had removed before they came in an attempt to fix the clog myself. They did a great job! They patiently explained everything they were doing, so I could learn and better understand my house's plumbing. They explained how to prevent future clogs, what to do and what not to do. These are great guys! The next time I have a plumbing problem, I know who I'll call."
