"The crew did a great job through the entire install of the interior gutter, sump pump, and basement waterproofing. Would highly recommend this team/ company and would hire them again for any additional projects."

"Having owned four different houses the past 16 years, this was hands down the best experience with a plumber... ever. We hired WyattWorks to install a laundry sink (the stainless over cabinet kind) which required drilling through the floor to tie-in with supply and drain pipes in our basement. Jeremy performed the work flawlessly and was a true pro: measure and recheck, plan and dry fit, and clean up the work area during and after. The whole process from start to finish was painless!"

"They did a couple of things. One was moving a bathtub drain. I was not all that pleased with it. The other thing was a couple of sinks. I guess I had installed the main part of the sink, and they were to go up underneath there and put in the U trap and all that stuff. I was kind of not all that pleased either. Now, on the second part, some of that stuff that had not been found out about until later. What I had noticed when he was putting in the stuff underneath, he had to take loose the p trap, and it goes into the wall. Well, he had used a tool to cut out part of the wall where it goes back in there, so he can get his pipe wrench to go around the nut and what that did was it left a wider hole. I didn't notice that until just a few months ago, really. A neighbor was downstairs which is where the half bath is. I had some folks there. They had the crawl space open, and I had the little cabinet door open underneath there and I saw the light. I said, where is that light coming from? Like I said, he put the tool and widened the hole and failed to cover it back up with something. With the original tool of the p trap devices that was on there, there's a silver cover over the hole that covers. He wanted to use his stuff. He widened the hole a little bit and he didn't cover it back up, he left a hole there. Therefore insects and whatever can get through it. I didn't go behind there and check. I had purchased a big deal; part of it was that. Then, I paid an additional sum also, which I thought was too high, but I let it go. I actually started to complain about it later because I was pretty upset about the choices. I only had one or two plumbers, but nobody's ever had a problem cleaning a slow drain. he claimed he was afraid to use a larger tool because it may do some damage. Nobody else said anything close to that. I said, I called a couple of plumbers before and it was like a two-second job, they just take that tool put a little pressure down there and it was done. So, he's trying to do it basically like I would do it by taking a plunger, taking the contraptions off and plunging it. Nobody has ever tried that before. After he had left, I did some work on it myself and I got it working better than he had. Overall, I wouldn't give him no more than a "C". On responsiveness, I mean when I called them; they came within a reasonable time. I would kind of be hesitant to use them again."

"Life Savers!! We live in an older house with a very small bathroom. We had a home inspection recently and were altered to some major subfloor, sill and joist damage. We knew it was in rough shape but the inspector used terms like “100% moisture and “previous repairs poorly completed”. I called a few other contractors and remodel companies that started to throw around some huge numbers and timelines to make the repairs. The consensus from them was the tub would have to be removed before they could do any subfloor repairs. In a house with one shower that wasn’t really an option for us. I saw the reviews for the Crawlspace Medic and decided to give them a call. It was the best decision I could have made. Sharon, Paul and Stanley were great; they made the process very easy and efficient from the initial phone call to the installation. Paul came out to do the initial visit (11/14) and assured me he had seen much worse and his company had developed methods to do all the necessary repairs from underneath the house leaving the current bathroom intact. The quote arrived the same day and was extremely reasonable. They got us on the schedule right away (11/20) and on the day of the repairs Nick and his crew arrived on time and were very professional. The job was scheduled for two days but they completed it in one and did a great job. We no longer have to worry about falling through the floor. They also provide a follow up inspection in 90 days and informed us of a couple other minor leaks that were noticed while completing the repairs. Crawlspace medic is a great company and I would 100% recommend them to anyone needing their services."

"I called for service early in the week and the work was scheduled for later that same week, since this was not an emergency. Jason called to let me know he was on the way. He arrived on time and we discussed what needed to be done. He worked diligently until the drains were cleaned and did a great job. We're so glad that the drains are working properly now! We discussed other possible projects for the future. Jason was knowledgeable, experienced, and polite. I highly recommend Queen City Plumbing."

"This was my first time using Andrei and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to work with him. He immediately called me back when I first reached out to him and arrived at my home for both the consult and the actual installation on time. He installed a very LARGE tv wall panel that weighed 120 lbs by itself (without the tv) and then mounted the tv on top of it. The reviews for the tv panel online said the instructions were horrible and that it would be hard to put together but Andrei did it with ease. The install required very meticulous measurements and he got them right the first time. He also seemed genuinely concerned about some of the bolts that were provided with the panel and suggested I get some more secure ones - which I did! Some handymen would've just used them and not said anything. But Andrei wanted to make sure the install was safe and secure. He cleaned up after the work was done and seems very knowledgeable about this line of work. He's pleasant and professional. I highly recommend him and plan to have him come back to complete some other work for me in my home."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Catawba, SC

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
