"Our contractor suggested we go to Westwood to pick out our granite for our bathroom countertops because you actually go out back and pick the exact granite slab you want. Even though you choose a granite by name, it's nice to be able to actually see it in person as it does vary slightly in color. Ruby helped us out and she was great. She showed us each slab of the color name we had chosen. Then we picked out the tile to go with the granite. They had several colors and types to chose from. We were also able to take the tile outside to match it to the slab of granite. Devon came within a day to template for the granite. Right now we have their tilesetter working on installing the tile around the bath tub and in the shower. Looks great so far. The price I quoted for cost of service is not what we paid as it is included in the contract with our contractor and we were given an allowance on how much we could spend on the granite and tile. <br />"

"overall, it went pretty well. <br /> it was a big project and we continued to add more things to it. <br /> pros: <br /> - travis was always professional and was always receptive to feedback on the work <br /> - with some exceptions, the work was completed at a reasonable level of quality.  some exceptional, some poor, but primarily good quality. <br /> - travis was always accommodating to change orders <br /> - travis was sincerely interested making sure we were happy with the results and was always open to fix things to  <br /> - the price of the work seemed reasonable <br /> cons: <br /> - travis sometimes had a difficult time managing his sub-contractors <br /> - travis was often over aggressive on his estimates to complete work, and frequently missed deadlines <br /> - during the year long project there were long stretches (weeks) of time when little or no work was done <br /> - the administrative management of the project turned out okay, but was not one of chimera's strong points <br /> the biggest positive was that we were generally happy with travis and the work completed. <br /> the biggest negative was that it took  <strong><em>significantly</em></strong> longer than estimated and deadlines were frequently not met. <br /> <br />"

"I arranged the inspection over the phone and he had the property inspected about three hours later. His report was thorough and well-documented with photos of areas that needed attention. The photos and reports were complete and in my email inbox before the end of the business day. Not only did Mr. Bassett identify several problem areas but he has contacts that he recommended to fix the problems for reasonable rates. He even contacts his people and arranges for the repair. "One stop shopping" and I feel in good hands with this man. I would definitely use his services again. Additionally, he was also trusting enough to perform the services and take my personal check by US mail which will arrive several days after he did the job."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Cedar City, UT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
