"Bryce build out four of my closets while we were completing our basement. We intended to use each closet/room for different purposes. He took thorough notes and measurements and sent me some mock ups based on what I told him I needed in each closet. He made sure we had all the necessary materials for the build and finished them quickly. I?ve loved having custom shelving in the closets rather than standard builder-grade installs."

"<p>We are so glad that we found Mike with Circle T drywall to do the mudding and taping for our basement finishing.  Even though he’s situated in St. George, he came up and worked on our drywall here in West Jordan.  He was exactly the person we were looking for when we were shopping around for someone to work on our drywall – we are so glad we chose him.   </p> <p> </p> <p>Mike does nothing less than the highest quality work, which is why we were so impressed with him.  We even had a couple 3-way corners that we wanted rounded.  He took his time and made them look incredible.  He really makes the hard stuff look easy (even though it isn’t!).   </p> <p> </p> <p>Mike is also extremely trustworthy – we have never felt more comfortable having someone working in our home.  We love that Mike did all the work himself instead of having our house feel like a train station full of workers.  This way, he was also able to control the quality of the work, which we appreciated.  He even told us that if anything comes up that he didn’t notice, to make sure to call him so he can come and fix it.  If that isn’t standing by your work, I don’t know what is!  J   </p> <p> </p> <p>Lastly, we felt like Mike’s price was right on for the work he provided.  If I could give him a rating higher than an A, I would seriously do so.  We will be using Mike in the future for any or all of our drywalling needs.  </p>"

"I found Teeples Custom Builders on Angie's List.  They were absolutely exceptional to work with.  Their professionalism, their timeliness, their attention for detail and eye for design surpassed all my expectations.  They expanded a small Master bedroom and added a very large luxury Master bath with a full basement excavated underneath (for a later den/bedroom) on our 86-yr-old home.  They matched all of the old molding design and doors to make the addition tie in perfectly with the art deco design and age of the house.  They had the experience to know how to tie in the roof line of the new addition and saved me the cost of hiring an architect.  They arranged for and supervised all subs, and made sure the subs' workmanship was of the highest quality.  They always listened to my ideas and worked with me to create the most beauty within my budget.  They did all the legwork for obtaining all supplies, even the extras I wanted.  They were very willing to do additional extras not in the original contract, such as additional grab bars, working with an art glass designer (Peacock Studios) for art deco glass, additional mirrors, upgraded outside stairs, railing, and fencing, and doing other small repairs in other areas of the house.  People would drive by and stop and ask me who was the contractor working on my home, because they could see the quality and care being put into my home.  It is apparent to all who see their work that they care about their customers and take pride in providing quality and beauty. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Cedar City, UT

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
