"The work Superior Landscaping performed was flawless. The patio looks amazing, the retaining walls with custom lighting are beautiful and everything Troy recommended for the job was spot on. The communication before and during the job was very clear and the project was started on time and finished on time, if not ahead of schedule. This is the second time we have hired Superior Landscaping. Both were largish projects and both came out perfect. I would not hesitate to recommend and will use Superior again in the future. They go above and beyond what is required!"

"It was an absolute pleasure working with RND Construction. I have used other companies before to clear house lots but I have now found my go to company for future house building endeavors. I have also hired them to do all my dirt work, they’re professionalism is unmatched and I can not wait to work with them again! Nick and Russel will certainly take care of you!"

"The job went beautifully as expected. (Adam had unstopped our clogged drain the week prior.) We happily agreed to have our kitchen drain system hydro-jetted to cleanse it entirely. Though the drain had cleared to allow water to run freely, residue within the pipes meant the clog would return in a matter of months. (And this indeed has been our experience in recent years. Thrilled to have 33 year old pipes thoroughly cleaned. Adam is professional, clear in what he’s doing and why, excellent at immediately assessing and then remedying the problem. I cannot recommend him highly enough.."

"Our experience went well, Mike was on time and his team remodeled our bathroom in a little over a week. We were able to reuse the claw foot tub that was in our home when we bought it and now it's in a bathroom design that looks great"

"After finding Tillerman Gardens online and requesting an estimate for substantial hardscape/landscape work on our newly renovated house, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Jesse, the owner, actually grew up in our neighborhood! On top of being a Takoma Park local, and an all around friendly, honest, business owner, we also came to learn that he does great work as well! His team completely transformed our hardscape areas, including installing a beautiful flagstone walkway and patio, a perfectly graded cement driveway, iron railings on our steps, and plants in a number of locations. On top of that, some of the work required some touch up and sealing and Jesse and his team have come out a couple of times later this spring to do that work unprompted. There's a little bit left, but I know they'll be around to finish it as they've taken care of us every step of the way. Even better, everything was done in budget. Look no further! These are your go to guys for all landscape/hardscape work in the area!"

"Steve Norfolk and his crew dug down to the footing and applied the waterproof material a section at a time.  The original plan was to dig the entire area first and then apply the waterproof material all at the same time.  However daily torrential rains turned the area into a sea of mud, so he decided to do it a section at a time to minimize problems associated with the rain.  He had to break up a concrete slab (porch) for 1/2 the front, and approximately 25 feet of driveway next to the house.  Progress was slow due to the rain and mud, but Steve steadfastly pursued the completion of the job despite the setbacks.  Although justifiably discouraged by the rain and lack of progress, he exhibited a positive "can do" attitude and kept at it.  The finished product was professionally done.  Backfill and all concrete were properly completed, and grass seed applied.  Steve is a conscientious professional who knows his business and can be relied upon to do the work he says he will accomplish.  I would use him again in a heartbeat.

"My wife and I decided to remodel our recently purchased home, doing significant upgrades to our bathrooms, kitchen, and
bedroom.
After going through three of four contractor interviews, we finally found Suncrest Builders.  Suncrest Builders was the first company that we came across that had the policy of "you buy the material, we supply the labor" policy - something that we definitely wanted. So many of the other contractors who bid on our project would only supply material that you purchased via their suppliers; which did not always appeal to our tastes.  Keep in mind the material you provide are the ?visible? items, such as vanities, mirrors, lights, cabinets, and not the items such as pipes, wires, etc.
From the beginning, John Cantrall, the owner of the company, has been intimately involved in the remodeling process.  From
initial design of what we wanted to accomplish, to referring us to suppliers of material (Fergunson's, Tile Shop, etc), and using the Suncrest Builder discount, he was there to help guide us.  He met with our designer, made plenty of suggestions, and dealt with my insistent questioning of how things would be done =)
When we finally decided on a design, John provided an extremely detailed quote; everything from demo, framing, plumbing and
electrical costs.  From there, my wife and I reviewed the quote and decided what work we would get done, or what we would have to pass on for later; e.g., do we have Suncrest do the Hardwood floors, or build a deck, or focus on the bathrooms and kitchen? After going back and forth for a week, determining what work would be done, we signed the order and submitted back to Suncrest.
Work started fairly promptly after we signed and proceeded at a moderate pace throughout the process.  There were some hiccups along the way, either we would submit change orders, or communication lines would be crossed.  However, in the end, we ended up with a wonderful looking master bathroom, guest bathroom, new walk in closet, and a great looking kitchen.
Pros
  • o Great personalities and people who work for the company
  • o Suburb quality craftsmanship and attention to detail
  • o Very detailed quotes that you can modify based on your budget goals
  • o No charges for change orders
  • o You can use their discounts for vendors, such as the Tile Shop
  • o You buy what you want, and they figure out how to install it properly
  • o They obtain permits and approvals throughout the process
  • o Small company that does not sub-contract out their work, with the exception of electrical and some plumbing. This is a huge plus, but it also has a negative effect.
  • o Most employees have a specific trade they work on, and they do it extremely well.  Again, this is a plus, but it can also cause delays.
  • o We have additional projects we want to work on in our house, and we will be asking Suncrest to come back and work those jobs.  I have already referred Suncrest to two co-workers, which shows the trust I have in them to do a good job, since I am putting my own reputation on the line.

Cons
  • o Communication was not always the best in the early ? mid portions of  the job, however, they definitely improved towards the end.  I believe this is something they are going to continue improving upon.
  • o Delays to the completion of the job.  While not always Suncrest?s fault, there were periods that we did not feel enough focus was given to us.  However, since Suncrest is a smaller company that does not sub-contract their work, time-delays are inevitable because of other on-going projects.

"I am a Realtor and have been in the business full time for 20 years. I know how difficult it is to find good contractors. Willard Environmental is a family owned and run business and they could not have been more professional. They were fast, thorough, and responsive! I highly recommend them for your property needs."

FAQs for building site preparation and clearing projects in Centreville, VA

A professional team can clear an acre of land in as little as two to twelve hours, depending on your land's condition. You'll need to consider factors like vegetation density, terrain features, and obstacles such as trees, stumps, rocks, or existing structures can increase the time required. If your land is heavily wooded or has uneven terrain, expect the process to take longer and require more effort.

If you're looking to clear land for a pasture, expect to pay between $400 and $600 per acre for forestry mulching or $500 to $5,600 per acre for conventional land clearing. When choosing a method, consider:

  • Forestry Mulching: Leaves organic material in the soil, promoting new ground cover growth.

  • Conventional Clearing: You might lose valuable topsoil during this process.

A land-clearing project typically involves several key steps to prepare your property for construction or landscaping. First, assess your land and obtain any necessary permits from your local building department. Then, professionals use specialized equipment to remove trees, stumps, brush, and vegetation. After clearing, they haul away debris and may perform grading to level the land, ensuring it's ready for your intended use.

Preparing land to build a house typically costs between $1,000 and $4,000, depending on your land's size and condition. This includes clearing space for the foundation, which may involve removing trees, stumps, brush, and leveling or grading the site. Don't forget to budget for additional costs like permits, fees, and installing utility connections such as gas lines, water lines, and sewer mains.
