"Nick did a great job.  Started on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up after he was done each day. He removed all flooring in both bathrooms and replaced with porcelain. Removed both vanity tops and replaced with new ones including the faucets. Installed a new bathtub and tiled the backsplash including building inserts for your shampoo, etc....which are wonderful! Replaced the light/fan combos in each bathroom. Removed popcorn ceiling and walls in each bathroom and replaced with orange peel surface. Completely gutted our shower in the master including removing a fur down. Rebuilt the shower to include a bench and insert and then tiled the shower from top to bottom. We love our new bathrooms! <br />"

"I am refurbishing a home, that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina. I am doing one room at a time, some of them are quite small, and I am on a budget. Mike Henry, and the staff at Carpet Corner, are always friendly and helpful. <br /> Carpet Corner stocks a large amount of "remnants" in the store that are the perfect size for my projects. This week I started on the kitchen, they had a piece of vinyl in the store that would have worked, but I wanted something that was more gray than brown. Mike said that he might have something at the warehouse and he would bring in a sample the following day. When I stopped in to look at the sample, I liked it. He noticed that my truck is a small Toyota, so he offered to deliver it for no extra charge; since my house was between his warehouse and store. The following morning he showed up with the flooring, as promised. <br /> I got a great deal, great service, and the perfect color! <br /> From experience, I can tell you that no project is too small (I have a 4' x 6' laundry room). Because of their wonderful service I would certainly trust them with a large project. <br />"

"I had shopped for carpet at several other stores over a period of several months. I wanted a short plush carped at about $9 per yard. I was pleased with their knowledge and the help they gave me in picking a carpet. They were able to special order a better quality carpet for $11.50 a yard plus $60 for shipping. I'm happy with the carpet."

"<p>Working with Alan (the owner of Royal Floor Covering) was a great experience. His installer, Nace, had over 20 years of experience, used a power stretcher, and did a superb job of cutting and installing our new nylon carpet. </p> <p>When I initially began shopping for carpet several months ago, I became frustrated by my lack of knowledge about carpet and the inability of carpet salesman to answer my questions and provide the information I needed to compare and quot;apples to applesand quot;.<br /> I searched on the Internet and found a site (abccarpets.com) that provided the information I needed to quickly become a carpet expert. I discovered the difference between polyester and nylon, the gimmicks played on customers by major carpet stores and major hardware stores that sell carpet, the right questions to ask, and the right answers to ensure I got the best quality and service for the money.<br /> The abccarpets.com site had a list of recommended small, family carpet stores nationwide and I followed the recommendation to search out Alan and his Royal Floor Covering business as the only store in the New Orleans area..What a great find!! I asked Alan all the questions from the abccarpet book ($14 online at abccarpets.com) and he answered them all correctly. The Royal Floor Covering quote was several hundred dollars less than other quotes with superior quality carpet.<br /> If you are thinking about getting new carpet the above mentioned web site is a must and you should definitely check out </p> the recommended small family carpet stores the site recommends...If you are in the New Orleans area, the choice is easy...just go see Alan and hire his Royal Floor Covering team!! <br /> Mark Krause <br /> Retired Navy Captain <br />"

"Harry promptly returned my initial phone call and set appointment on a Saturday morning within 2 weeks following. He called the day before to confirm and arrived promptly at appointed time. Carpet was stretched and cleaned and job was completed within 3 hours. (I had moved a lot of the smaller furniture out of the way so it made the job go quicker.) They did an excellent job for a great price -- carpet was left slightly damp to the touch. He estimated it would be okay to walk on within 4 hours after. Carpet was completely dry by next morning."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Chalmette, LA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
