"We received an asbestos inspection/test for our old plaster walls and ceiling areas. The turn around times were fantastic - inspector was in our area and able to fit us in the same day I called. Sample results and accompanying lab report were emailed within 36 hours. All samples were analyzed by a local lab accredited under the NIST NVLAP Asbestos Fiber Analysis Lab Accreditation Program, so I felt comfortable trusting the results. The inspector seemed very knowledgeable and helped walk us through any areas that could be of concern. Thankfully all samples were negative, but the modest inspection and sampling fees were well worth the piece of mind during our remodel. In short, I highly recommend this company for asbestos testing/inspections."

"Scheduling the appointment was slow. We first contacted Leadtec at the end of August, exchanged a couple emails, and then didn't hear from them for a week, and had to re-contact them before an appointment got scheduled. On the day of the appointment, Susan was a bit late, but she called to let me know she was running behind. Once the inspection started, it went really well. Susan walked through everything she was doing and explained the process and the test. She was clearly knowledgable about lead and lead testing, and answered all questions clearly and confidently. In the end, she took 75$ off the price because the appointment went faster than she expected. <br />"

"Steven Boie was incredibly thorough and identified issues large and small that enabled me to assess whether the price we offered for the house was fair.  Based on what Steven found, we negotiated a lower price with the seller.  Steven also urged us to do the radon test ($149) and we are glad we did since radon was found and the seller had to fix the problem before settlement. <br /> <br /> Steven and his associate were very prompt, professional and provide me with a very detailed report on all aspects of his inspection and findings."

"I cannot say enough good things about Maryland Cleaning and Abatement.  I recently purchased an older home that had lead paint in the doorframes and some windowsills and I needed to remove them as I have small children.  From estimates to having the work completed, the crews were courteous, professional, and most of all got the job done.  Although the job took longer than originally planned, the crews were always prompt and everyone from the owner to the members of the crew appeared to take pride in their work and their determination to produce a good work product.  Overall a clear A+ company and if I should ever need any issues in the future I would not hesitate to use MCA or recommend them to my friends. <br />"

"They came in on time, they were very clear about what I needed for my property, they did not try to sell me services I didn't need. I have tried the big companies over the years and was never satisfied and paid a lot more, this company does what they say they are going to do."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Charlotte Hall, MD

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
