"The roof was done in a timely manner, and it was well done. From the tearing off of the old roof, clean up, and the new roof, it was very well done. I would highly recommend this service as I was very pleased."

"Jeff and his team were professionals from the first talk we had all the way to the guys who installed the work. I was expecting to clean up after they were done, but these guys went above and beyond. The whole process was easy. Jeff took the reins with my insurance company because we know how it can be intimidating working with insurance. Especially a $25,000 roof. Thanks Legacy for a great experience!"

"Floors Sag or Shake was one of three estimates we got to reinforce the sagging floors in four rooms of our older home. We went with them based on the work they proposed and their positive online reviews, and we are completely satisfied with their work. They worked over three days to pour concrete footings, jack up the floors as best as possible, and then add permanent supports. They also removed an old vapor barrier and installed a new one. Each day, they arrived early and worked through the day. They communicated well and were courteous and professional. Prior to their work, our floors were not even close to level. More importantly, when walking on them, we could feel them "giving" under our weight. Now, our floors feel solid and look level throughout the house. While this type of work isn't as "fun" as other renovations, the cost of this repair is worth the peace of mind. Every time we walk across our floors, we are reminded of our investment. We also feel good about the transferable warranty—should we ever sell our home, a prospective home owner will have a good indicator that we invested in keeping this home safe and stable. Thanks, Floors Sag or Shake!"

"I recently had all the windows and a glass sliding door <br /> replaced in my home by Dream Home Remodeling.  <br /> This experience was the most positive and easiest remodeling project I <br /> have experienced.  Luis Candela, the owner of the company, came to my home to demonstrate his product, which he did with excitement and pride.  He was so <br /> detailed in his explanation of the benefits of his product and it was obvious <br /> that his windows were far superior to any others that I had seen.  Although his windows were priced higher than the advertised prices of other companies, it was obvious from the beginning of his presentation that his product was better constructed and that Luis would do <br /> anything he could to make the process easy and would go out of his way to make <br /> everything work the way I wanted.  The <br /> installation did end up to be a very easy and quick process.  The installers showed up on time, worked diligently, and finished in one day.  <br /> They were very accommodating by replacing everything they had moved and <br /> cleaning up after completing the work.  <br /> When Luis returned to inspect the results, he was so excited and proud <br /> of how the project had turned out.  He <br /> again explained to me the benefits of these windows over the competition and <br /> the features that made them a superior product. There was one item that I had <br /> initially requested that was not completed to my satisfaction.  He immediately remedied the problem without question, demonstrating his outstanding customer service.  He would not stop until everything was completed to my satisfaction.  I am so satisfied with this experience and with working with Luis, that I plan to use his company in the future to do some remodeling in my kitchen.  I know that I made a positive investment in my <br /> home for now by enhancing the look of my home and saving my energy costs, but <br /> also in the future by increasing the resale value of my home.  I would recommend Dream Home Remodeling with 100% confidence to anyone and look forward to working with this company in the future. <br /> Wendy Marcus <br /> Woodstock GA"

FAQs for natural slate roofing installation and replacement projects in Chatsworth, GA

A slate roof features thin tiles of natural stone installed over a solid deck and underlayment. Formed under intense heat and pressure, slate is exceptionally durable and delivers a distinctive, high-end look. Because the material weighs far more than asphalt, most homes need added structural support before installation.

While upfront costs are higher and routine inspections are a must, many homeowners choose slate for its unmatched longevity and curb appeal.

Slate stands out for its 50- to 200-year life span, low maintenance, and classic aesthetic. It’s fire-resistant, energy-efficient, and often boosts resale value.

On the flip side, slate runs far more per square foot than asphalt, weighs up to four times as much, and demands a contractor who specializes in the material. Tiles can crack on impact, and repairs cost more because the work is slow and precise. If your budget and structure can handle it, slate delivers top-tier performance for generations.

Natural and synthetic slate aim for a premium, stone-like appearance, whereas asphalt focuses on affordability. Real slate runs $10 to $30 per square foot installed and lasts up to 200 years; synthetic slate costs $10 to $15 and tops out at 50 to 100 years.

Standard asphalt averages $3 to $8 per square foot and needs replacement every 20 to 30 years. If you want the slate look without the full price tag—or extra roof weight—synthetic is a solid middle ground.

With routine inspections and prompt repairs, a natural slate roof can last well beyond 100 years; some hard-slate installations reach the 200-year mark. Soft slate falls in the 50- to 125-year range, and synthetic products last 50 to 100 years.

Remember, flashing, fasteners, and the underlying structure may need attention sooner than the stone itself. Severe hail or fallen limbs can also shorten life span, so schedule periodic checkups with a slate-qualified roofer.

If you plan to stay in your home long term—or want a standout selling point—slate delivers strong value. Although installation costs are high, owners often recoup 60% to 70% at resale and enjoy lower replacement cycles than asphalt. The stone’s durability, energy efficiency, and timeless curb appeal also appeal to eco-conscious buyers because fewer roofs end up in landfills. Just be sure your framing can handle the weight and that you budget for occasional specialty repairs.

Skip the DIY climb if you have a slate roof. Slate may be tough against the weather, but a single misplaced step can crack a tile and create a leak path. The surface also turns slick when wet, upping the risk of injury. Professional crews use staging and hook ladders that spread weight across multiple slates, protecting both the roof and the worker. To inspect or repair slate, call a roofer who specializes in the material.
