"We contracted Nei Brothers to give us an estimate of replacing the carpet in our entire house. Dennis was extremely knowledgable about his products. The level of service on our first visit convinced us that this was the company for us. <br /> The work was done in 2 phases to lessen the disruption to our special needs child. They made sure to have his bedroom completed and ready for him before he came home from school. The quality of the workmanship cannot be beat. The quality of the materials used far exceed our expectations. Because we had this done on two different days, the clean up between each phase was outstanding. Overall this company is one of the best service companies I have ever dealt with. <br /> I would and do recommend NEI BROTHERS to anyone in need of carpet! <br />"

"I purchased a new home and the three bedrooms needed new carpet.  The owner explained how important the padding under the carpet is and also brought several really nice samples.   I decided on the type of carpet, the owner arranged to have the carpet installed approximately three days later.  The carpet installers were scheduled to arrive between 8:30 - 10:30 they arrived at 11:00 but they did call to ask if being a half hour late would be ok,  i agreed, they arrived and were fast to work.  The carpet was completely installed in approximately four hours, they cleaned up the area, wasted no time, and completed the job.  The installers were professional as well.  I would recommend iCarpets in The Park to anyone, in fact I've already past the business name and contact on to a couple of my co-workers. <br />"

"Lance came to a townhouse I'm remodeling right now. I had new laminate flooring i had just put in and needed the carpet to be finished/repaired properly to meet the laminate floor. One opening was about 10ft wide and the other a door way about 2.5 feet wide. Lance was on time and gave some good suggestions on how to finish the carpet edge to where it met the laminate floor. He reinstalled new tacking, stretched the carpet to attach, and then trimmed/finished the edge to give it a nice clean look. Lance noticed a few small stains on the carpet and removed those for me too!! Great guy and does very nice work. I will use him for all my carpet repair needs for my properties in the future."

"I reached out to Mike at Windy City and we set an appointment immediately. He had to cancel the appointment but phoned early to let me know and rescheduled promptly. He showed up to my home with an array of samples. Took measurements and spent some time explaining the process and the types of carpet. He even sent me carpet samples so I could lay them on the floor to compare. The men who installed showed up about 30 minutes late but got right to work. They were friendly and hardworking. All of our heavy furniture was upstairs so they had to move from one side of the room to the other. No small task since our roof is angled which cuts down the space to move items. It took them longer than they thought to install: 10 hours in all! The carpet looks great! And the padding underneath is the BEST! What a difference on our feet! I would definitely hire again."

"The wood was delivered on Friday. The installation of the wood began on Monday. The Installation was finished on Tuesday and one finishing coat was put on the wood. The last two coats were put on Wednesday morning. The job was finished at noon on Wednesday. They did extra work to make the treads deeper. The stairs are now easier and safer to go down. They used extra material to make the treads deeper but charged us no additional amount."

"Marcus and his crew were prompt, polite and willing to go the extra mile to provide excellent service. They were pleasant in their manner and patiently answered any questions and addressed all concerns efficiently. The Carpet was installed in the time promised with superior workmanship by himself and his crew. In addition, their manner in getting the rooms prepared for the Carpet installation and moving furniture was professional and they replaced every item in the room as well after the Carpeting was installed and the whole job went quite smoothly. We are very pleased with the Carpeting and it looks beautiful.  Whomever hires Marcus and his crew will be very satisfied and the entire process from start to finish will be executed in a professional  manner with all the details completed as well by Maxwell Carpet Sales and Installation with reasonable and competitive pricing. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Chicago, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
