"Jim came to our home and provided great suggestions to improve our kitchen's look and functionality. In addition, he provided recommendations for counter top and back splash resources which have been very professional to work with as well. Jim's attention to detail, craftsmanship and efficient use of time made this project a real success. Jim took the time to answer all of our questions and made me feel comfortable with this entire process. In addition, he solved the problem for my cookbook collection and built a bookshelf which matches the cabinets beautifully. I could not recommend Cincinnati Cabinet Refacing enough."

"Prompt, professional and repairs look great.
Great experience. Dan and his wife Tania came out to give me the estimate on the window work. While here, I asked  about the concrete work and was told Adam ( the son) could also do that type of work. I went with the company for both repairs.
Dan and Adam came at the agreed time, did both repairs. Also, great clean-up, only evidence of their being here is the good looking work!
Thanks

"Mike Delaney was great. I believe he could repair anything. He removed the rotting wood and replaced it around my windows. He redesigned some window sills that had lost their forward slant and were actually directing rainwater toward the house rather than away. He was environmentally friendly and financially responsible by allowing me to keep my windows and just repair what needed to be done. While here, he kindly reattached molding that had fallen on the screened in porch and installed my new retractable screen door and nailed down a loose board on the deck. He worked diligently for 3+ days. He repaired 15 window frames and 1 door frame."

"There was a slight mixup initially when i called for an appointment for someone to come out for an estimate but it worked out well as we got to work w/Jeff Cawood. He had been out of town but when I called in to find out why noone was here at the appointed time, he came out later the same day. After this questionable start, I cannot imagine how the whole job could have gone any better. We are very pleased.

Jeff and his contacts helped us pick out the new tile for the bathroom remodel, including the listello (a new word i learned!) which went very well with our tile and paint scheme. He also referred us to a dealer for shower enclosures. The completed room looks like one right out of a brochure. We are very glad we did it. Jeff recommended the tile work be done first before the wood refinishing and carpet, so that is what we did. Jim and Dave removed the old tile in the shower,  around the whirlpool, and a small portion of the floor, then tore out the old carpet in the rest of the bathroom. Jim noticed that the whirlpool water supply lines did not have shut off valves installed and was very accomodating in working around a plumber that installed new ones. Now if there is a problem, we can turn the water off to the tub, not the whole house. I also like the way the new access panel was installed-a 12-in tile was caulked in place instead of grouted, so it looks very clean but is still easily removed and replaced. After the new grout dried for three days, Bill came back to apply grout sealer. [I would like to point out that another bidder for this job wouldn't do that, i was told to put the sealer on myself.]

Wayne and Greg sanded, repaired, and refinished the hardwood floors next. I was a little concerned because i knew going in that they do not use the new dust containment systems that are supposed to minimize dust. So yes, there was dust, but due to their good preparation and clean up, it was not nearly as bad as i had anticipated. [In fact, it was not nearly as bad as the dust from the interior painting done prior to this. There were so many patches sanded that gypsum dust got into all the cracks, that was much worse than the sanding dust.] Bill did a great job of hanging painter's plastic in the open foyer area to prevent dust from getting to the second floor. All the kitchen cupboard doors/drawers were taped up too. The large open doorways were draped with heavy canvas to minimize dust intrusion into adjoining rooms. In a paranoia move, we had put painters plastic over the furniture in the adjacent rooms as a back up measure. Only one of those rooms had a small amount of dust get through in a small area. So it was not nearly as bad as anticipated. [As a side note, a friend of a friend had recently had his floors refinished using the new type of dust containment system but he said there was still dust everywhere.] One floorboard had to be replaced but other damaged areas were either patched or sanded out. There was one spot where a 4-inch long, 1/4 in wide splinter had come out, but the patch was invisible. Wayne helped match the stain very close to the existing color which we wanted to keep. We chose a semigloss finish and are very happy with the results.

Finally, the carpet was replaced. We had no problems picking out the style of carpet we wanted but did go around a few times on the color. Jeff was very helpful. When the time for installation arrived, Larry and TJ moved the furniture, removed the old pad/carpet, and installed the new pad/carpet pretty much on a room by room basis. Some of the furniture was very heavy but they got it done. The stairway landing area had a different kind of binding that they matched up perfectly. All of the seams look invisible. The new carpet is so soft we like to walk around barefoot. Jeff did a great job planning out the work; a competitor overestimated the amount of carpet by approximately 10 percent.

The different phases of work were scheduled for 3 consecutive weeks. The tile and carpet phases took a little longer than planned but the job was still completed by the end of the last week.

Did I mention everyone was very easy to work with?  They were. And they all iterated that the job wasn't done until we were satisfied. Did I mention that Cawood guarantees their workmanship? They do. Call them if you need something they provide. I will."

"The work was performed between Sept 16-19 2019. Darryl and his crew arrived promptly at 8:30 on Sept 16 as planned. They pressure washed the entire house during the first day and began prepping the exterior wood for painting. They scraped, sanded and caulked the wood. Darryl pointed out several areas of rotted wood in addition to the ones I knew about; he repaired all of them under the original estimate. We chose the paint colors from the Sherwin Williams selection samples. Prep work continued throughout the second day while part of the crew began painting. Painting, prep work and wood repair continued through the third day. The fourth day was only for the final (second) coat in the areas still needing it. The crew was very polite and cleaned up at the end of everyday. They stored their ladders and equipment in a tidy area away from the house everyday. They arrived around 8:30 and worked until 4:00. The paint job looks great! I will definitely hire them again. Thanks, Cliff"

FAQs for cabinets repair projects in Cincinnati, OH

The timeframe for kitchen cabinet removal varies significantly based on quantity and installation complexity. Professional contractors typically complete standard kitchens within 4 to 8 hours, though complicated configurations involving plumbing or electrical components may extend to 1 to 2 days. Homeowners tackling this as a DIY project should allocate substantially more time—often 1 to 3 full days—as careful extraction requires methodical work to prevent property damage.

Kitchen cabinets can indeed be salvaged for reuse when removed carefully. Construction material significantly impacts success rates—hardwood cabinets generally survive extraction better than composite materials, which tend to chip or break. For optimal preservation, document the original layout, remove doors and hardware first, then methodically detach units from walls and adjacent cabinets. Professional removal significantly increases the likelihood of successful cabinet preservation.

Disposal options for kitchen cabinets depend largely on their condition and your local waste management regulations. Cabinets in reasonable condition might find new homes through donation centers or online marketplaces. For damaged units, professional waste removal services offer convenience, while dumpster rentals provide flexibility for larger projects. Some municipalities offer special collection services for bulky items, though advance scheduling is typically required.

Wall damage during cabinet removal represents a legitimate concern for many homeowners. The risk varies based on installation methods—cabinets attached directly to drywall without backing supports pose greater challenges than properly mounted units. Professional removal minimizes damage through specialized techniques and appropriate tools. Even with careful extraction, expect some minor wall repairs. Older installations and homes with plaster walls require particularly delicate handling to prevent significant damage.
