"Jay arrived on time and after explaining the process, began the home inspection. He’s was thorough both inside and outside, and from top to bottom, climbing underneath the deck and into the attic, and checking everything in between. Periodically, he would discuss with me some of his observations before continuing to another area. He was very polite and respectful and even removed his shoes when inside. He was able to address all of my questions and also address how certain repairs could be made. He said the report would be ready that evening and it was. The report was thorough and included pictures with an explanation."

"As usual, Dan looked over everything in the home and gave us a realistic view of the state of the property (not too optimistic and not overly pessimistic.) An older home is never going to be in perfect shape, and Dan helped us get an accurate idea of what issues this particular property was facing and when they might need to be addressed. He took all necessary COVID precautions, and was happy to answer all the questions we had for him and provided a wealth of information about systems and issues we were unfamiliar with. This is my 2nd time hiring Dan for a home inspection, and I would definitely hire him again."

"Darrin was right on time, very personable, and extremely thorough. Thanks to his inspection, some potentially major issues with the home were identified that were in no way obvious problems."

"Alex Lockstead of Eaton Inspections came highly recommended from a family friend and proved to be the best professional decision we made in our home buying process. Alex is extremely responsive and easy to work with, but more importantly he is incredibly meticulous and skilled at his craft. The quality, thoroughness, and detail of his inspection and corresponding documentation was absolutely astounding. We inspected two different homes with Alex, and both realtors commented to us how markedly better Alex's work and process was than others they regularly work with in their careers. The peace of mind afforded with Alex is worth every cent. He saved us from buying what would have been a financial nightmare of a home. When we found our second home during the Covid pandemic, we knew we wanted no one but Alex to inspect it, and literally wrote our inspection period terms around his schedule. Alex worked with us to safely inspect it and was extremely respectful and sensitive of the homeowner's safety and comfort. Alex delivered his impeccably detailed report and made time to host a debrief call and was available with follow up calls and texts as needed to help us assess our home. You can't put a price on having someone you can trust as you make the biggest financial decision of your life, but you can choose Alex at Eaton Inspections and that is pretty darn close!"

"It went very well! Tim came to the apartment and looked at the issue. He told me that he will place the order for the new and more efficient unit than the old boiler and install asap. Tim's crew came the following Monday to demolish the old boiler and installed the new boiler on the same day. The new boiler was up and running on the same day. It was a smooth startup!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Cincinnati, OH

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
