The crew was efficient and friendly. On the third day an additional crew of two men arrived to install Radon mitigation system. Electrical guy arrived to install outlet on outside of home and helped complete the radon system. Completed job quickly and cleaned up. Appreciated the review of planned work and customized it to our home. The crew leader listened and made appropriate adjustments. Thank you so much for all your hard work."

"Professional in every aspect. The owner, Walt Fitzmaurice, is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what would be done and when. Top marks for communication, timeliness and quality of work. Easy, no pressure sale. Walt and his crew did an amazing job mitigating radon from our basement! Very respectful working in the house, and there was nothing for me to clean up after they left. All around a good experience. Walt left a measurement device to assess success of the mitigation. Radon level went from 5.8 pCi/L to < 0.3 pCi/L. Two visits (quote, installation) and it was done. Walt come to our house to look at how to route the system. He wasn't in a hurry and explained everything to me in layman's terms. On the day of the install, they arrived promptly, at 09:15 and explained what they were going to do. No electrical work was required. Existing outlet in attic from a 1985 project. The vent pipe runs from a basement store room into the attached garage and to the attic where the fan is located, the roof vent is on the back side of the garage and is not noticeable. You cannot hear any fan noise. The installation was finished by 2:00 p.m. I would highly recommend Advanced Radon Services."

"We decided to have the Radon checked in our home and found Rick with <br /> Radon Defense Systems. Rick was very helpful, explained to us in detail <br /> what to expect and gave us proper instructions on what the steps were <br /> in order to make sure our home was safe. <br /> Rick dropped of two sample Radon test kits. We put 1 in our basement and 1 in our bedroom. Let them sit for two days and then sent the samples to the lab. We had our results back in a week. <br /> The test was inexpensive, fast, simple and the service was fantastic. I am really glad we <br /> did it. Luckily, we do NOT have an issue with Radon exposure in our <br /> home, but if we did, I know Radon Defense would be able to fix the <br /> problem. They were very professional, quick and helpful. <br /> I would strongly recommend using Radon Defense to check for levels of Radon. Radon is a very dangerous toxin that can lead to very serious health issues. It's worth the time and money for your peace of mind. <br /> Thanks Rick. You're AWESOME!!! <br />"

"Andrew was quick to respond to our inquiry and set an appointment to come to our home, look at the site, and discuss any questions that we had. The pipe would exit near the front corner of our home and I was not looking forward to seeing the white pipe next to our siding. Andrew offered the option of having the pipe painted to blend with the siding color which resolved the question of esthetics. The project went perfectly. Josh was not only great with the installation and explaining the system to us, but was exceedingly careful with our home. I would highly recommend i radon to anyone looking for a system. They are great to work with, utilize a high quality fan, preform after installation radon testing, excel in communication with customers, and were able to find a paint color that blended very well with our siding. Had I known how great this project would turn out and what a terrific company i Radon is, I would not have procrastinated in completing this project.A+++"

"After testing my basement we called several radon mitigates. Healthy Homes was the one we chose because they seemed the most responsive and interested in US. When we called back to confirm our decision a date was set up. On the day of installation they were late for that specified time but gave us continues updates on the equipment malfunctions they were having and did work late into the evening to complete the job! Following the 1st follow up testing (showing a huge improvement) but not to levels specified they came back and inspected again drilling a hole for diagnostics. We decided to try a large motor than planned and they installed it. We have since tested an neared the guaranteed level just waiting on some final adjustments. <br />So far very pleased with Robert and the concern he has shown for our concerns. Strongly recommend. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Clearwater, MN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
