"My floors had pet stains & I wasn’t sure if they would ever look good again. I also had some nails that were popping up & catching my socks. Lakeside did an awesome job refinishing the floors & fixing the nails. They came out looking shiny & new."

"Truly this contractor did what was asked and beyond! An 1880â s house with sad maple flooring in four rooms and stairs. This genius vision of Dustinâ s was exactly the kind of Floor refinishing (and 2 stairways) that we were lucky enough to hire. Dustin and his assistant brought the life back to original wood floors. A few tweaks replacing worn out trim to look like it belonged! The back stairway was almost hopeless. Other contractors said cover it, paint it, etc. Dustin said well I have an idea that will work.. and I had tears at how much original wood came back to life after coats of old varnish were caked on those stairs! Very neat, talented, and professional from start to finish! Thanks Again to Tagg Flooring Services! Regards, Donna, Julia, Teddy and this â ole houseð ¤"

"Superior Wood Floors did an outstanding job on refinishing the hardwood floors in our kitchen, morning room, and front hall way. They took care of moving heavy furniture including a piano that was on wheels. They started and finished on time and the cleanup of the work area was impeccable. The results exceeded my expectations. We had several areas that had sustained water damage and even those areas were restored to like new condition. Everyone including the owner, Scott, were great to work with. The work was dustless. Their pricing is very reasonable and they used good quality finishing material. They did not try to scrimp on lower quality finishing compound. I've hired other flooring companies in previous years for other houses and this company is truly Superior. Pun intended. I give them my highest recommendation."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Clifton Springs, NY

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
