"
The owner, Aaron, came out personally to show us carpet samples and give us an estimate. Although he was late to our appointment, he phoned to let us know of the delay. He was very courteous, helpful, and thorough in providing information and answering our questions both when he was with us in person and when answering follow-up e-mails and phone calls. I recommend that customers visit his show room rather than or in addition to looking at samples at home because what he showed us was limited. It turned out that the carpet we ultimately chose was in his car and we only saw it accidentally when we walked with him out to his car at the end of his visit. (We don't know why he did not include it and perhaps others among the samples he brought into the house!) After comparing his price and carpet information with other estimates and companies, we chose to hire this provider. Although the installation was performed well, we were less impressed with the installer. He was not friendly or communicative and left a mess behind him. Maybe no carpet providers vacuum after themselves but we were surprised to be left with such a massive vacuuming job--including the hard floors where there were scraps. (The vacuuming jammed our vacuum cleaner and required several changes of vacuum cleaner bags as well as a lot of time to get done--and our house is a very small, 3-bedroom bungalow!) Also, Aaron had said that the installer would trim any doors that needed it, but the installer only removed them but would not trim them. We were left with doors off and trimming still to be arranged. The reason we give this provider an A for quality and price is that, when informed of our distress about this unsatisfactory situation, he arranged for another worker to come the following week and do the trimming at a discounted price. We give him a C for professionalism because of the unsatisfactory situation with the installer, with whom he is responsible for contracting.

"

"I have hired him three times now. Once was for ceramic tile work in November and I hired him again last month for additional tile work. I previously hired him for carpet work as well. He is excellent and is reasonably priced! I will hired him again in the future. He is very good. I had a squeeky floor and he was able to fix that for me. The work is great!"

"It went great, as usual! I've been using this Ross' company for years. I have to admit, my husband had called another carpet company last fall (without my knowledge) and I was horrified. I decided to let it go and give my husband control of something domestic in the house. Of course, the other company was terrible and our carpets did not look clean at all. Lesson learned from my husband that Ross is the best carpet cleaner in Indianapolis! I was so excited for him to come and clean my cream colored carpet as I have 2 dogs (one of which pukes a lot and the other who still has piddle accidents), 2 children and I was actually ready to buy new carpet, it looked so terrible! Ross let himself into my house through the garage code (this is how much I trust this man) and made my carpet look BRAND NEW! It's been a few week and it still looks fantastic. I would have Ross clean my carpet once a month if I could afford it. He does a fantastic job, is trustworthy and always on time. You will not be disappointed!
"

"Rick & his staff worked around our schedule in order to have the job done in time for the new renters to move into the house. This took place after/during a terrible February snow storm! They did a beautiful job, & cleaned up very well! They also left extra carpet in case we need to have a repair job done later. These guy are true professionals...polite, on time, & do great work."

"This is the third time I have had PHD out to clean carpets. They are wonderful at getting stains out and cleaned the stairs to look like new. I appreciate that they don't move all the furniture but are able to get the main areas cleaned up and looking great."

"Thanks to all of the rain in July and a power outage, the lower level of our tri level flooded. We had planned to replace the carpet in the entire house soon anyway, so decided that now was the time to replace it. We have used Mainsyle Flooring before but we only purchased the flooring there - we did not have it installed. So rather than shop around we decided to go with them. The salesperson was new but was helpful for the most part. After our first contact, she wasn't usually there when I went back so I talked to someone different every time. Someone came out to measure and we ordered our carpet. As far as the scheduling goes any delays were on our part because it took a little longer than we thought to finish the rest of the repairs in the lower level. Mainstyle was very patient in dealing with our delays. They also agreed to put our carpet in over two days per our request because we had to move out alot of things. This was at no additional charge.
The first day went well as far as the carpet installation goes. But this was the first time the communication problems cropped up. We were told by the salesperson that they would attempt to fix the squeaks in our stairs. They did say attempt and did not make any guarantees. However, the contractor indicated that there wasn't much he could do but put in a few nails and that probably wouldn't fix it. Then we found out that a couple of the stairs were broken. Since the stairs were to be carpeted on the second day, this meant my husband had to rush home and put in some new stair treads during a very long evening to be ready for the next day. He would have done this much sooner if he'd known that it wasn't part of the deal.
The next day, the installation went well again until we found out they ran out of carpet and couldn't do our stairs. They went ahead and put in the carpet tacks and padding on the stairs and called the store. The store said it could be a week to get more carpet in but it would be the same dye lot. No explanations on why they ran out of carpet. In the meantime, we found out that our built in desk in one of the bedrooms was leaning to one side. They had carpeted under one side but not the other.
I called and left a message about the issue with the desk but didn't hear back. About three days later I received a call that the carpet was in and they could install it the next work day Monday. This was great and faster than we thought. I told the person that called that 1 - I was upset they ran out of carpet in the first place, 2 - the problem with the desk, 3 - the carpet pad on the stairs would need replaced because it was getting damaged from traffic up and down the stairs. He said that was fine.
When the installers came back, they started to install the carpet. I told them that the person at the store said they would replace the pad on the stairs. They did then replace the pad. I told them about the desk. This was the first they'd heard about that. My husband had fixed the height issue with the desk but a small hole needed patched so they did that.
Overall, we like the carpet and the installers did a nice job. I just felt like the whole experience was very stressful and many of the issues I had would have been less stressful if the store had communicated better with me and the installers. After the job was completed, I expected to get a call asking how everything went. The only call I received was for payment. I explained my frustrations at that time. I also filled out a comment card briefly explaining the above. I've never heard back from the owners or salesperson, but based on other reviews on here I expect I will see a reply now........
"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Coatesville, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
