"<p>We recommend this contractor.</p> <p><strong>Background.</strong>  This was our first project since the construction of the house in 10 years.  We researched the options of wood and metal buildings.  The cost of each was about the same.  However, the metal building was a quicker and durable option. </p> <p><strong>Contractor Choice.</strong>  We chose the contractor due to the price, the interview with the owner, their website, and a testimonial; we visited a previous job site where they did a similar project.  In general, the owner was more responsive and professional than the other contractors.  The other companies seem less professional and some were just odd.  The local contractor business in our area is competitive but not cheap.  </p> <p><strong>Foundation. </strong> Overall, the survey, land clearing, and laying the A/B aggregate went well.  We chose to hire an additional contractor to clear more land to expedite their work and for other projects.  Foundation framing and cement work went according plan.  During this phase, we were very much involved with their work since we need to integrate our other requirements into the foundation.  We needed to run water and power conduits into the foundation before the pouring of the concrete.  In addition, we prepared a portion of the foundation to support an in ground carlift.  All these actions required us to coordinate closely with the construction team.  Though our special modifications may have been a deviation from their standard work, they were more than willing to work with us to accommodate each special request and let us do the portions of the work we intended to do ourselves.  In addition, we were welcome to ask questions and review the work daily to ensure that there were no misunderstandings or incorrect expectations.   We enjoyed working with both the owner Caleb and his site lead, Calvin.</p> <p><strong>Erection.  </strong>We elected to wait 30 days to begin the erection after the pouring of foundation.  The erection went without any major incident. Caleb's crew performed all of the work for this portion, and did so at remarkable speed.</p> <p><strong>Follow-up.  </strong>We required a follow up visit to fix one of the overhead roll up garage doors that came off its track.  The contractor responded within a reasonable time and completed the work without issue.<br /> Overall, we were very satisfied with the entire experience, from bid through construction to completion. We recommend you consider this vendor for your next construction project.</p> <br />"

"Brian and Brandon did such an amazing job. I am so happy in my kitchen. <br /> Brian cleaned everything up and vacuumed inside and outside the house. <br /> The price was unbelievable too. I kept putting off remodeling of the <br /> kitchen because I was being quoted a price three times higher than what <br /> m3remodeling charged. The price was unbelievable especially when I saw <br /> the quality of his work. Brian even did extra things like making a shelf <br /> from scratch. Brian was easy to work and very honest. For example, <br /> Brian and his son worked so hard to save my granite. The two of them <br /> lifted a slab that must have been 400 lb and treated it with care. The <br /> effort that they put into my kitchen made it look like it was their <br /> house that they are working on. I feel so lucky that I found them and <br /> refer them to all my family and friends. Thank you!"

"<p> </p> <p>My interior design firm recently had the pleasure of working with Kathy Lyle and Kathy Nieto (affectionately referred to as ?The Two Kathys?) of Interior Trends Remodel and Design on a large-scale remodel of a residence in Tucson.</p> <p> </p> <p>We became involved after work had begun and many decisions were already underway.  From the start, I was impressed not only by the Two Kathys' welcoming, collaborative approach to the project but also their honest, no-nonsense work ethic.  Their design plan was spot-on; their work schedule was thoughtfully well-organized; and their staff was personable and attentive.</p> <p> </p> <p>Regardless of what design ?curve balls? we threw at them, they handled everything with the utmost professionalism, a typically unseen attention to detail and a healthy dose of common sense, all of which resulted in this project being completed in a timely manner and being beautifully beyond the clients? expectations.</p> <p> </p> <p>Furthermore, the Two Kathys and their firm do not disappear once the project is complete.  Follow-up is excellent, and they remain available for any questions one may have down the road, which is something rarely seen these days.</p> <p> </p> <p>As a result of the experience, hard work, patience, humor and charm they brought to this project, I can honestly say it was one of the best projects my firm has had the honor to work on in a number of years.</p> <p> </p> <p>Having now completed my work with Interior Trends Remodel and Design, I have to commend the Two Kathys and their entire staff not only on their work but also their character.  Not often do I have the chance to sincerely note an exceptional job done by exceptional people, but I am happy to say I can do so regarding Interior Trends and Remodel.  They come with my highest recommendation.</p> <p> </p>"

"They were absolutely fantastic.  I was in military, now retired, I faxed a lot of plans around to a lot of companies of what I wanted, and the owner of Whetstone Construction responded back.  The house is now ten years old and it is absolutely fantastic.  I haven’t had any significant problems since then.  I am changing windows of the whole house right now but that was due.  The price was really unbelievable.  They were extremely friendly people.  I will be calling them again next week."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Cochise, AZ

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
