McDonough's Services returned my call the same day I called them, and scheduled cleaning the pipe(s) the following day. I received another call the next day confirming someone would be out, and the technician called shortly after that to let me know he would be arriving within an hour, which he did. Chad was personable, and started the job right away.  He cleaned the pipes--to make sure they were clear--but he thought the major problem was the old cap he found lodged inside the pipe; this lodged cap prevented the water from draining properly and so the water backed up from our drain into our laundry room.  Chad said the cap was difficult to get out.  We are very grateful he found it as our laundry room flooding situation has been going on for a long time.  We were very pleased with McDonough?s Services, and would definitely hire them again.

"I had used Jon in the past for an outdoor shutoff valve a few years ago, and he was outstanding, down-to-earth and fair in price. Those days are clearly gone. The visit began with rolling out a (literal) red carpet at my front door (I knew I was in trouble at that point). The plumber did a complete inspection of all my plumbing in the house (I did not request this), in order to make additional suggestions for improvements and wrote up a very detailed bid of the job and future options. The prices for the leaky shower faucet were SKY HIGH! I brought this company in as a second opinion and had a bid from a competitor (equally good service, equally qualified plumbers ) , so I had an idea what market rate was. They were fully TRIPLE the cost! I had to basically negotiate to get the price down and asked them to leave my home 2 times during the visit. I finally got them down to about $200 more than what the competitor bid and agreed to the price, just get the job done after so much song and dance and sales mumbo-jumbo, laminated flip charts, etc. etc. I will say, the plumber did outstanding work and was very nice and professional, but I would rather just have a plain, no-glitz plumber like the old days. "We hired Chris to clean our carpets on the main floor and basement. It turned out so nice. Chris was professional, friendly and was even kind to our dogs who kept trying to get in his way, even though we tried to keep them away from the work area. He answered all the questions we had, and when he was finished he cleaned up after himself, and the carpets smelled so good. He was able to get rid of a few stains that we could never get out. Highly recommend Chris!"

The clean-up was fine, it's the pricing that was concerning.

I was very disappointed in the billing and cost of the services Dry Air Restoration (Shakopee, MN) provided.  The first estimate came back at $1925.00, but once they found out insurance was going to cover the clean up costs, their bill jumped up to $3,686.52 for the exact same services as indicated in their initial estimate.  We were told by this organization, that if insurance was covering the claim, they bill differently than if the bill will be paid for without insurance.

I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable recommending a company that takes advantage of its customers like this.  Regardless if insurance covers the clean-up and repair, the work performed is the same.
