"Kemp Carpets had the best pricing on their flooring that I found after checking out 4 other flooring stores. They were very helpful and not high pressure when I looked at their showroom in Lagrange. When the installers arrived, they worked constantly and often checked with me on preferences for how I wanted the wood flooring installed. It took about 4 days and they cleaned up after themselves daily. They had to custom stain moldings for me and make some special door thresholds as well. We found a few boards that needed to be adjusted in some way and they returned 2 times to do that work after the job was completed.  Everyone was professional at Kemps and they bent over backwards to be sure I had everything just the way I wanted it. I am making sure all of my neighbors and friends know about our recommendation for Kemp Flooring of Lagrange!"

"They gave me a very acceptable price for doing the three coats of polyurethane and sanding. It includes taking out the carpet and doing away with it. I am paying them extra to move the heavy furniture. They have come out twice. They are on Angie?s List. They quoted me about $1750. I called them the second time to talk to them further about exactly how it would proceed since I am planning on using them. The guy came over and we talked about it. Then he left and I am going to call him today to see when he could start. I have to move the small stuff before he comes and moves the heavy furniture. Everything about them during the quoting process was excellent. I may use them again. In fact, I am also going to talk to them about finishing the rest of the floors. <br /> <br /> The floors are finished and they look wonderful.  The price did not include the strips around the sides of the wall at the floor so it was a little more, but I am well satisfied and will certainly ask them to work on my other floors. <br /> <br /> You do have to call them to remind them when you are at the talking stage, but when it came to the work, they were there on time and finished when they said they would."

"I had had other carpet cleaners in the past but had used The Carpetman exclusively for a number of years and they were loyal.  I am sorry that I no longer have a carpet but wanted to let others know that this company in my experience is professional and will do a good job.  They keep their appointments, are punctual, and as I say do quality work."

"Roger was the one who put the cabinets in and he was wonderful...he was punctual it was the cabinets were not.  The cabinets are honey maple with special cutting and finishes requested.  We did get everything we asked for.  Evidently the problem , which we were unaware of for a few weeks, was that with the special finishes and cutting we requested the person who does this was backed up on his work and if I understood correctly it required a certain type of blade.  This put a 1-2 weeks delay on the installation of the cabinets.  Noting could progress until the cabinets were in.  The backsplash, granite, sinks, etc. could not be put in until the cabinets were in, which put a hold on all of the rest of the contract workers.  At the time it was a mess to have only one working sink...in the kitchen and none in the bathrooms.  With that said I have posted pictures under Affordable Handyman, Jason Kilgore, of the finished product.  The quality, finish and look is unbelievably beautiful.  Their work is outstanding and even with the delays I would definitely use them again.  My husband look at them all the time and say "we have the best looking cabinets in Columbus, Georgia.  For fun we go to open houses and even the high end ones $500,000 and up do not have cabinets that can compare to ours. So thank you for what we consider art work.  If I can figure out how to do it again I will post pictures on their website here on Angie's list. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Columbus, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
