"I had looked around in the attic several years ago and recognized some glaring insufficiencies in the insulation after furnace and AC technicians pointed them out. David was very polite and receptive to my questions and concerns before he inspected the attic. He reiterated the problems I already knew about and estimated the installation 20% lower than several other insulation installers. My wife had researched some of what seemed to be an unrelated roof/gutter problem which I conveyed to the installers when they showed up to do the work. I asked if they minded that I take a look around in the attic after they had finished. They said that they always ask customers to take a look after they finished. The attic looked afterwards as I had hoped it would. Without exaggeration, the condo felt more comfortable before they even left. "

"Matthew and Michael were very professional. Due to the harsh winter I had a snow dam that leaked into my front guest bedroom. It created mold and water damage. The problem was fixed in my bedroom and in the attic. I had gotten three estimates. Midwest was more thorough in the job that needed to be done. "

"The company did an excellent job: they showed up on time (for both the initial estimate and to perform the work), were professional and courteous and cleaned up upon completing the project. I am already a repeat customer and would certainly use this company again in the future."

"Just finished our second project with Updike Bathroom Remodeling- 2 quartz double sink bathroom countertops & custom 6" backsplashes as well as some miscellaneous caulking. They are absolutely Beautiful!! Alex and Arturo did an amazing installation job!! Great workmanship, professionalism, friendly and answered all our questions, & kept us informed on their arrival time. Dan (owner), Jeremy (in sales), and Sheri ( office manager & schedular) all were very helpful, offered great suggestions, were attentive to detail, & provided great customer service!! Highly recommend Updike Bathroom Remodeling! As a matter of fact we have already contracted a 3rd project with them to have a tiled shower installed in our hall bathroom as well as replacing the tiled floor. Great company!"

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Columbus, IN

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
