"Our old hot water heater died the evening before we were leaving for vacation.  We wanted to have a new heater installed the day after our return.  We called several companies in our town and were given either vague scheduling times, were quoted inflated estimates, or the brand heater we wanted wasn't carried.  We called Modern Plumbing in Kalamazoo, based on Angie's list reviews. Fortunately, they provide service in our area, and they were very helpful in being able to schedule us when we wanted, and to install the heater we preferred. Their quote for the heater and installation was extremely reasonable.   <br /> We were scheduled for service between noon and 2:00, on the 30th.  At 1:30 I received a phone call saying arrival time would be at 2:30.  I appreciated being informed of the slight delay, and the installers did arrive at the time they said.  They laid down floor coverings to protect carpeting leading to the furnace room. They drained and removed the old heater and installed the new heater efficiently. After installation, good instruction and demonstration were given about setting changes and re-lighting the pilot. The work area was completely cleaned up. Both installers were friendly and addressed questions and concerns.  Everyone was friendly and helpful, including the person who took our order, set up the installation, and called to remind us of the service schedule. <br /> All businesses should be run like Modern Plumbing Sewer and Drain Contractors! <br />"

"I discovered water on the floor in my downstairs bathroom on Sunday, December 28. Not knowing where the source of the leak was, I turned off the water to the entire house and first thing on Monday morning I called a large local plumbing company and was told nobody could come until New Year's eve, or maybe the day after New Year's. I found Affordable Plumbing on Angie's List, called, and Don came within 3 hours. He identified the plugged sewer drain and snaked it right away which fixed the problem. While checking to see that all drains were working, he discovered a corroded drain pipe in the furnace room, beneath the concrete surface. He didn't have time to fix it then but made it workable until he could return, which he did after New Year's day. He fixed the hole in the pipe and tied in the condensation line from the furnace/AC. His work was efficient and high quality. He showed me everything he did and explained the work. I was very pleased with the service he provided. The $450 I was charged included two visits to my home and fixes for two separate problems. <br />"

I had used Roto-Rooter before and when I checked Angie's List , I saw that their ratings were essentially satisfactory and decided to try them again. <br /> The person who scheduled the same day appointment was very pleasant and the technician,Frank, was a steady, efficient worker who accomplished the root removal in a timely manner. Unfortunately that did not solve the toilet flushing problem. He next set about determining how to correct it. It turned out the toilet needed a number of parts replaced to function properly (fill valve, wax ring, flex line, floor bolts and caps) which he effectively accomplished. <br /> I thought the price charged was fair for the work performed. <br />"
